Fantasy EPL Gameweek 20: Chaps Choices Sleepers XI

Our Gameweek 20 Chaps Choices article provides Fantrax managers with a Fantasy EPL Sleepers XI.  Our starting eleven of Premier League differential picks will help you find a golden ticket to a big score this weekend!  These hints and tips will give you a better chance of picking up an all-important victory, as one of our Fantasy EPL sleeper picks could easily make the difference in a Head-to-Head game!

We’ll be focusing on players that will bring us not only attacking returns or clean sheets, but also those players that score “ghost points” on the sophisticated and statistics based Togga scoring model!

*For this article, we use the ownership statistics from Fantrax.  Our only rule is that each player we highlight is required to have ownership of 60% or below at the time of writing.  This way there’s a good chance these players will be free agents in your Fantrax Draft League!

Fantasy EPL Gameweek 20 Sleepers XI

**60% ownership or below**

GK: Ben Foster

Team:  Watford

Opponent:  Aston Villa (Home)

Ownership:  38%

Prospects:  We backed Foster in Gameweek 19, and we’re going back in for the veteran goalkeeper.  Foster has been scoring increasingly well, and Watford defending increasingly better.  Nigel Pearson’s men have two home fixtures coming up, and Foster is a great option for these games.  First up is Aston Villa in Gameweek 20.  If you’re after a streaming option for the next couple of games, Foster is your man!

GW20 Points Scored:  12

DEF: Cedric Soares

Team: Southampton

Opponent:  Crystal Palace (Home)

Ownership:  3%

Prospects:  Southampton were the surprise winners on Boxing Day, as they won 2-0 away to Chelsea.  This followed an away victory in Gameweek 18 too!  All aboard the Southampton train!!  This weekend they face Crystal Palace at home, and a Southampton defender is a must for our Gameweek 20 Sleepers XI.  We’ve picked out right-back Cedric Soares for our lineup, as he scored pretty well last time around.  The Saints can’t afford to rotate, so the Portuguese defender should start once again.

GW20 Points Scored:  5.25

DEF: Yerry Mina

Team:  Everton

Opponent:  Newcastle United (Away)

Ownership:  49%

Prospects:  Everton have kept two clean sheets in a row, and Mina has gained monster scores in both games!  The big center back looks set to thrive under new manager Ancelotti.  If Mina is a free agent in your Draft League, you simply have to pick him up!  This weekend The Toffees face a trip to Newcastle, where Mina should come up against Andy Carroll.  Therefore, aerial points will be there for the taking for the Colombian defender!!  If teammate Sidibe (57% ownership) is a free agent, he needs to be acquired too!

GW20 Points Scored:  0.5

DEF: Christian Kabasele

Team:  Watford

Opponent:  Aston Villa (Home)

Ownership:  15%

Prospects:  Kabasele has been quietly performing well in recent weeks, as he doesn’t need clean sheets to gain good scores.  The Belgian defender gained a double-digit return in the 1-1 draw with Sheffield United on Boxing Day, and we expect more of the same when he faces Aston Villa in Gameweek 20.  Watford has actually been fairly resolute in recent weeks, so we highly recommend snapping up Kabasele prior to their next two fixtures.  If he continues to perform, then he could be a real gem of a Fantasy EPL player.  Femenia (5% ownership) is also a good option, although he’s more likely to be rotated over the festive period.

GW20 Points Scored:  11.25

DEF: Matt Targett

Team:  Aston Villa

Opponent:  Watford (Away)

Ownership:  59%

Prospects:  Targett has once again fallen below 60% ownership, as Aston Villa have shown some indifferent form.  However, Targett is a player that needs to be signed if he’s a free agent.  Plug him into your starting eleven for the games against the lower table sides, and you should be on to a winner.  This weekend Aston Villa faces a trip to Watford.  We’re not expecting them to win this one, but it should be an open game, and Targett should find some joy down the Watford right-hand side!

GW20 Points Scored:  9

MID: Miguel Almiron

Team:  Newcastle

Opponent:  Everton (Home)

Ownership:  57%

Prospects:  Almiron has slowly been producing good Fantrax returns for the last month or so.  The Paraguayan is still pretty under the radar due to his sometimes comical football skills, however!  Almiron scored his first Premier League goal in Gameweek 18 and followed this up with a decent 7.5 points in the Gameweek 19 defeat to Manchester United.  The fact that Almiron managed to accrue this amount of points during a 60-minute appearance for a side playing poorly, shows his potential!  If you don’t fancy taking a punt on the improving Newcastle midfielder, then take a look at Mooy (16% ownership).  The Australian is becoming an integral player for Brighton and is a solid MID4 option.  Mooy faces Bournemouth at home this weekend.

GW20 Points Scored:  4

MID: Declan Rice

Team:  West Ham

Opponent:  Leicester (Home)

Ownership:  46%

Prospects:  Declan Rice has been incredibly consistent in recent weeks, as he has been scoring between seven and nine points every game.  This amazing consistency has to be highlighted here, and he’s a solid midfielder to acquire over the busy festive period.  Rice will play every game, and Rice will get you a decent points return based on recent data.  The Englishman was recently added to our Hot List too!  West Ham teammate Snodgrass (42% ownership) is also worth a look if you prefer a more attacking option.  The Scotsman scored in Gameweek 19.

GW20 Points Scored:  7

MID: Fred

Team:  Manchester United

Opponent:  Burnley (Away)

Ownership:  42%

Prospects:  Another player showing great consistency is Manchester United midfielder, Fred.  The Brazilian didn’t have the best of starts to his Premier League career, but he’s now firmly established in the United midfield.  Fred has been scoring around nine points every game for the last few weeks, as he’s become more and more influential.  Key passes have been added to his game, mainly due to taking on set-piece duty.  Hopefully, this continues.  Fred is a must-have acquisition from our Gameweek 20 Sleepers XI.  If he’s free, go and grab him!!

GW20 Points Scored:  1

MID: Giovanni Lo Celso

Team:  Tottenham

Opponent:  Norwich (Away)

Ownership:  25%

Prospects:  We’re taking a bit of a punt with our fourth midfielder, in Tottenham man Lo Celso.  Its safe to sat the Argentinian has had a shocking start to his Fantasy EPL life, but could this be set to change with Son missing out through suspension.  Lo Celso came on early in the second half against Brighton in Gameweek 19, and we think he’s going to start this weekend against Norwich.  If Lo Celso has been dropped by a fellow Fantrax manager, then we encourage you to pick him up!

GW20 Points Scored:  5.5

FWD: Jordan Ayew

Team:  Crystal Palace

Opponent:  Southampton (Away)

Ownership:  47%

Prospects:  Ayew is not usually a good scorer on Fantrax, but he put in a great performance on Boxing Day and could score well again this weekend.  Crystal Palace faces a trip to Southampton, but we’re mainly picking Ayew because Hodgson has no choice but to start him.  The Ghanaian forward won’t be rotated due to the insane injury crisis that Crystal Palace is facing.  Bring in Ayew if you think you’ll be struggling with rotation in Gameweek 20.  At the other end of the scale, if you can afford to bring a player in with a view to potentially benching him this weekend, we recommend signing Greenwood (25% ownership).  The Manchester United youngster scored in Gameweek 19 and looked really lively.  We don’t expect him to start again this weekend, but he’s a great longer-term option.

GW20 Points Scored:  4.5

FWD: Andy Carroll

Team:  Newcastle United

Opponent:  Everton (Home)

Ownership:  14%

Prospects:  Andy Carroll sat out the dismal defeat to Manchester United in Gameweek 19, so we’re expecting him to be restored to the starting eleven this weekend.  Newcastle faces a newly resolute Everton side, but we still expect Carroll to score well for aerials, if not attacking returns.  The big striker has to start this weekend, and he’s always worth a punt when he does start, simply due to the potential monster score for aerials!  Follow our Gameweek 20 Sleepers XI advice and take a punt on the lumbering striker… it is Christmas after all!

GW20 Points Scored:  27.5

Team Points – Gameweek 20:  87.5

Team Average Score – Gameweek 20:  7.95 points per player
