2018-19 Fantasy Basketball Point Guard Rankings

The 2018-19 fantasy basketball season is fast approaching, and throughout the next six weeks, myself and the FantraxHQ staff will continue to provide you with updated rankings, rankings, and guess what? More rankings! Today we’ll get started with my point guard rankings for the coming season.

More Fantasy Basketball Rankings: Centers | Power Forwards | Small Forwards | Shooting Guards | Point Guards

This year’s group begins with the familiar quartet of James Harden, Damian Lillard, Stephen Curry, and Russell Westbrook, but following excellent seasons, new pre-draft names like Victor Oladipo, Jrue Holiday, and Ben Simmons find their way into the top 10. Runner up for the Rookie of the Year Award, Donovan Mitchell, lands at No. 12, and the Clippers’ Lou Williams, who is coming off his second Sixth Man of the Year Award, finds himself at No. 14.

These point guard rankings are just a start. When you’re ready to get your fantasy basketball season started, head on over to Fantrax to start or join a league today!

When glancing at my rankings, you may notice some players who have a less than favorable position. John Wall is probably the first player that comes to mind here. For most of his career, Wall has been drafted not only as top-10 point guard, but he’s often been selected as a top 10-15 player overall. Not anymore. The Wizards’ star, whom I have ranked 15th among point guards, dealt with myriad injuries that sapped his fantasy output last year, and when you pair that with his average three-point numbers and not-so-elite free throw shooting, he no longer stands tall over the rest of the point guard group.

Jamal Murray is a trendy pick so far in early drafts, but I have him ranked a little lower than the FantasyPros’ consensus (I have him 18th, to the consensus’ 16th). I fear the addition of Isaiah Thomas is going to take away some of Murray’s upside.

Below you’ll find the rest of my point guard rankings. Try not to get too upset if you disagree on these early point guard rankings, as these are likely to change many times before Opening Night. Have fun, and good luck in your drafts!
