Fantasy College Football: Waiver Wire

If you want to have long-term success in fantasy football, you need to work the wire. Here’s a look at the top waiver wire adds of the week …

Quarterbacks

A.J. Erdely, UAB

% Owned: 4%

College football fans rejoiced this season as the Blazers return their football program after unfairly having it taken away from them in 2014. After not knowing what to expect in Birmingham this season, it seems as though they have a hidden gem in A.J. Erdely. Erdely is averaging 25.75 points per game and is outscoring Baker Mayfield at the moment. The dual-threat is a must add considering how weak his competition is going forward.

Troy Williams, Utah

% Owned: 6%

Tyler Huntley claiming the job over Troy Williams came as a shock to many this offseason (especially those 58% who had already drafted Williams). Huntley isn’t out for the season, but Williams is a proven QB2 when he’s on the field and should be picked up until Huntley can get healthy.

Manny Wilkins, Arizona State

% Owned: 14%

Manny Wilkins has thrown for over 300 yards in three of his four games and has found the end zone at least twice in each game this season. He may be in the Pac-12 and face tougher defenses, but the same San Diego State defense that shut Stanford down allowed Manny to throw for 298 yards and two touchdowns. In a time where quarterbacks are shallow, Manny Wilkins is here for the taking.

Running Backs

Darius Anderson, TCU

% Owned: 14%

Darius Anderson is the man for the Horned Frogs, and boy is he taking full advantage of that fact. Anderson has gone for over 100 rushing yards in two of his four games and scored at least one touchdown in the past three contests. He has only gotten better as time has gone on. As a key piece in such a high-powered offense, Anderson is a must add as one of the few top-flight backs still available.

Darius Tice, USF

% Owned: 4%

Keeping up with the Darius theme, Darius Tice is a consistent performer in the South Florida offense. Tice has quietly accounted for 100 yards and at least one touchdown in the past two contests. Tice won’t be an RB1 talent, but he does produce consistent numbers, giving fantasy owners a safe flex option.

Wide Receivers

Denzel Mims, Baylor

% Owned: 2%

A change at quarterback may have been the key for Denzel Mims in the Bears offense. Mims’ season high was three receptions under Anu Solomon, but Zach Smith hit him an astounding 11 times against one of the better defenses in the Big 12. Mims is a big-play threat as it is, and if Smith keeps targeting him, then he could be a game-changer for those in need of a receiver.

Andre Levrone, UVA

% Owned: 2%

Kert Benkert has vastly improved in his second season under Bronco Mendenhall. In Virginia’s last two games, Andre Levrone has a combined nine receptions, 268 yards, and three touchdowns. Levrone is trending in the right direction as the Cavs enter into ACC play next week.
