Week 6 Starting Pitcher Rankings for Fantasy Baseball

Every we learn of more injuries to key start pitchers that continues to bring down the overall average ranking for pitcher start confidence. In just the last few days we’ve learned of Jesus Luzardo and Zac Gallen’s new potential injuries as well as Merrill Kelly’s rather serious shoulder injury. That’s why we keep searching for diamonds in the rough to help deep league fantasy managers press forward with timely long-term pitcher pickups or short-term streamers on a weekly basis.

Starting Pitcher Rankings for Week 5 (4/29 – 5/5)

A few prefacing notes to help you identify key risers and fallers in the starting pitcher rankings below:

  • This features a mixed bag of two-start pitchers after last week’s ace-filled list with the normally safe plays all having tough matchups. This risky top tier two-start pitcher group includes Logan Webb (@BOS, @PHI), Grayson Rodriguez (NYY, @CIN), Max Fried (@SEA, @LAD), Ryan Pepiot (@MIL, NYY), and Joe Ryan (@CWS, BOS).
  • There are a few teams whose entire rotation benefits from easier matchups this week. These teams include the Marlins (WSH, @OAK, COL), the Rockies (@MIA, @PIT), and the White Sox (MIN, @STL). A likely recurring theme this season will be to encourage starting nearly all pitchers facing the Athletics with confidence until we see any reason to pull back.
  • Lastly, there are also teams with strong rotations that are limited in their rankings due to tougher matchups this week. These team rotations include the Diamondbacks (LAD, SDP), the Dodgers (@ARI, ATL), and the Orioles (NYY, @CIN). Several of those team’s frontline starters still have decent start confidence ratings for their matchups this week, but their rankings are far lower than normal.
