Fantasy Basketball Streamers: Filling the Void

The process of acquiring Fantasy basketball streamers can be exciting, bittersweet, and even sad. This morning, teams hopeful for playoff glory were met with the heartbreaking news of De’Aaron Fox’s entrance into COVID protocol. Teams with James Harden, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, Lebron James, Myles Turner, Jamal Murray also feel the pain. Teams with these players struggle to keep pace with their potential.

Other teams are playing with house money, streaming players on quiet days where their production is a bonus. As General Managers we most likely find ourselves in a combination of these positions. It is up to us to swing for the fences and find players that can change our matchups regardless of our situation.

Here are players with high ceilings, solid roles, and maybe -just maybe- the ability to fill the void left by your absent superstar.

What?! You’re not hosting your fantasy basketball league on Fantrax? Inconceivable! Check out all the features of Fantrax Fantasy Basketball Commissioner and we’re pretty sure you’ll come around to our way of thinking.

Fantasy Basketball Streamers

Delon Wright – SAC – PG/SG

After playing only 14 minutes on 4/21, Wright finds himself with new life with De’Aaron Fox out in COVID protocol. Chances are he is being picked up right now in almost all formats. In 30 minutes a game, you can expect Delon to impact steals and assists. He is the type of “do-it-all” guard that can change a head-to-head matchup over the course of a week.

Kendrick Nunn – MIA – SG

Kendrick Nunn has played 28 minutes a game in the last month. Nunn’s minutes have crept up above 30 per game with Victor Oladipo out, carving out a strong offensive role on this Heat team. Over the last month Nunn has averaged 15.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3 assists, 0.8 steals, on an excellent 54% from the field. Nunn is a useful streamer with the opportunity for a huge line.

Bruce Brown – BKN – SG

Bruce Brown has flourished on many waiver wires as Kevin Durant’s questionable status looms over teams. In the past two weeks, Brown has averaged 11.5 points, 9 rebounds, 1.4 steals, on 54% shooting from the field. These are matchup-changing numbers from a streamer perspective. Durant may be back soon, along with Nicolas Claxton, but Brown will still produce modest rebounds and be elite in steals. If his schedule works for you, add him.

Josh Jackson – DET – SG/SF

Josh Jackson is getting the opportunity to be the “go-to” guy on a Pistons team focused on developing their young talent. Jackson is getting tons of run while Detroit’s more solidified players (Jerami Grant, Mason Plumlee) take games off for rest. In the last two weeks, Jackson’s minutes are up to 28.5 a game, averaging 20 points, 2 threes, 4 rebounds, nearly a block a game, on 48% shooting from the field. Jackson may be available on your waiver wire right now, and if not, may soon fall to the wire with Grant coming back for a game here and there. If you need two-way production with high upside this week, add Jackson.

Aleksej Pokusevski – OKC – PF

Many of us in the Fantasy basketball world got excited about Aleksej Pokusevski a few weeks ago before he abruptly missed 3 games with an injury. Poku is back now and he is firmly on our radar with 5 games next week. Poku is crafty and glides across the floor to get you a range of stats, most consistently blocks. His well-rounded game is suited for teams looking for a jack-of-all-trades player with upside to produce assists, points, and threes as a PF.

The Other OKC Guys

If Poku is not your guy, remember to kick the tires on all the OKC players with their generous schedule and tanking aspirations. Players like Theo Maledon, Isaiah Roby, Luguentz Dort, and Ty Jerome can be found across league formats and will be getting plenty of opportunities to produce down the stretch.
