Welcome to my weekly “DomiNaters” article! I am taking the Week 4 breakouts from the quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and tight end positions and breaking down their performance. I will also look ahead to their matchups for the upcoming week to determine if they will “DomiNate” or “DetoNate” in your fantasy football lineups.

All stats are based on .5 PPR format.

Week 4 Breakouts

#1 QB: Jameis Winston (29.3 FPTS)

Winston went off against the Rams, completing 28 of 41 attempts for 385 yards and four touchdowns! This is the second consecutive week Jameis Winston had a minimum of 380 passing yards and three TDs. This is a good sign that Winston and this offense is finding its rhythm. Winston did not string together two amazing performances together all of last season as he just did the past two weeks. Still, there is reason to be cautious when it comes to Winston as he has proven to be inconsistent in the past. Even to start this season, Winston had thrown just two TDs and three INTs in the first two games.

You can likely find Winston available in your leagues. He is worth a roster spot as a backup and a weekly matchup play as his ceiling is worth it.

Week 5 ruling: Look for Winston to have a third consecutive week with another great performance on your fantasy team. He’ll DomiNate his Week 5 matchup against the Saints who have allowed the 2nd most fantasy points to QBs this season.

#2 RB: Jordan Howard (31 FPTS)

Jordan Howard has proven to be a volume-dependent running back. When he receives a healthy dose of touches he is a very productive back for real and fantasy football purposes. In Week 4, Howard got his touches. Finishing the week as the #2 RB for fantasy with 15 carries for 87 yards and two TDs. Tack on another three catches on four targets for 28 yards and a touchdown reception and you have yourself a monster day for Howard.

Unfortunately for Howard, he plays for Doug Pederson. Pederson does not favor a featured back. You would think Howard’s performance against the Packers would be enough to grant him the lion’s share of touches in this backfield but I have reservations.

Week 5 ruling: Howard gets the struggling Jets in Week 5 and although it looks like a tasty matchup, I’d temper your expectations. The Jets have given up the 11 most points to RBs this season but the most they have given up for rush yardage was Week 1 against Devin Singletary (70 yards). Howard will have his chances near the goal line in Week 5 and is a decent option to DomiNate your flex position. Just don’t look for him to carry your fantasy team.

#3 WR: A.J. Brown (22.9 FPTS)

A.J. Brown had his second big game of the young season on Sunday. He finished the day with 94 yards and two touchdowns. Good enough as the #3 WR in fantasy for Week 4. The biggest problem with this performance is that Brown was targeted just three times in this game. He hasn’t been targeted more than five times in a game yet this season. If a player isn’t pairing volume with their production, there is little chance the success continues consistently. This should be especially concerning for Brown’s Week 5 matchup.

Week 5 ruling: Brown draws a very tough matchup in Week 5. The Bills have given up the 4th least fantasy points to WRs this season and they just held Tom Brady to 150 passing yards, 0 TDs, and 1 INT in Week 4. Marcus Mariota is not Tom Brady. This Bills defense is for real and that is why you can expect A.J. Brown to DetoNate your lineups should you decide to leave him in for Week 5.

#3 TE: Will Dissly (15.2 FPTS)

There is no doubt Will Dissly is trending up. He has increased targets and receptions in each of his four games this season. Week 4 was his best week yet from a volume perspective. Dissly caught seven (3rd best among TEs) of his eight targets (2nd best among TEs in Week 4) for 57 yards and a TD. His 4th touchdown on the year (leads all TEs).

Week 5 ruling: The TE position can hurt your fantasy week at any moment but Dissly is as good as any of the top TEs at the moment. Look for him to DomiNate your TE spot in Week 5 against the Rams on a short week.
