Fantasy Hockey Week 15 Waiver-Wire Goalies

The waiver wire is a great way to add hidden gems and overlooked players to your fantasy hockey club. This remains true whether you plan to have them as short-term or long-term parts of your fantasy hockey roster. Now that we are three months into the season, we better understand which waiver-wire goalies are worth snagging. As a result, here are three waiver-wire goalies worth adding to your roster in Week 15.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Goalies to Consider for Week 15

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, Buffalo Sabres

Heading into this season, Devon Levi was the Buffalo Sabres’ top breakout candidate. Instead, fellow goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has been, and he is only getting better. The 24-year-old has won the starting goalie job in Buffalo and keeps playing well. Because of this, he is a clear waiver-wire goalie to pay attention to.

However, his play as of late has been particularly impressive. In three out of his last four starts, he has had a .976 SV%, a .957 SV%, and a 28-save shutout against the San Jose Sharks. He has been playing some of the best hockey of his career, and it is time for fantasy hockey managers to take notice. Bring him in as a waiver-wire addition to your roster this week because he’s red-hot.

Sam Montembeault, Montreal Canadiens

Sam Montembeault is another waiver-wire goalie to consider bringing in this week. He has been quite solid for the Montreal Canadiens lately, as he has had a .900 SV% or better in each of his last four starts. However, his last appearance on Jan. 13 against the Edmonton Oilers was his best. In an overtime loss, he saved an impressive 39 out of 41 shots and was the only reason the Habs got a point from the game.

Throughout this season, Montembeault has been the Canadiens’ top goalie, and that is only continuing to be true. It is the reason why the Canadiens gave him a three-year extension, and his play is making that decision a good one. When noting that he is playing some of his best hockey this season, take a chance on him as a waiver-wire addition this week.

Nico Daws, New Jersey Devils

Goaltending has been the New Jersey Devils’ top issue this season. Vitek Vanecek and Akira Schmid have struggled, but they may have found an answer with prospect goaltender Nico Daws. He has been excellent since being called up right before the new year. He has a 3-2-0 record in five appearances, a 2.63 GAA, and a .922 SV%. Because of this, he’s an under-the-radar waiver-wire goalie to consider.

Perhaps what is most promising about Daws is that his play has been rapidly improving. He saved 35 out of 36 shots in his Jan. 13 start against the Florida Panthers. Then, in his next appearance on Jan. 15 against the Boston Bruins, he saved 33 out of 35 shots. With this, he’s had back-to-back strong performances against legitimate contenders. Therefore, he is absolutely among the top waiver-wire goalies to take a shot in Week 15.

Nevertheless, Week 15 has some great waiver-wire goalie options for fantasy hockey managers. Luukkonen, Montembeault, and Daws are all playing wonderfully as of late. Let’s see if they can keep this kind of play up from here.
