6 Free Fantasy Football Tools… Is One of them Cheating?

Being the most knowledgeable person in the league can seem hard. There is always that one person who beats you to every free agent when an injury occurs or seems to have the inside track on who to buy low or sell high on. Being that person is something that doesn’t require you to pay a dollar or spend hours locked into your phone. It’s attainable with a couple of tools already available at your fingertips.

What!? Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune this season.

5 Awesome Fantasy Football Tools

FantraxHQ

This should be obvious. FantraxHQ is a great free fantasy football resource for all your fantasy needs. If you’ve read our content before, you probably know this. Between our draft kit, weekly mock drafts, and The Fly Fantasy Football Podcast, we’ve got plenty of content for you to go into your draft prepared and knowledgeable through the season. Our fantasy platform is a great way to host your league with a ton of customization options great for all redraft and dynasty leagues.

Twitter

The days of smartphones and social media have changed the game when it comes to breaking news. You don’t have to turn on the TV or radio to get the latest news, it now comes directly to you. That means you can be a step ahead of the competition. Star players getting traded, MRI results and mid-season free agency moves all get broken first on Twitter before anywhere else. If you want to get ahead of your league, get on Twitter and turn on Twitter notifications for the biggest news breakers in football

Adam Schefter, Ian Rapoport, Field Yates and Josina Anderson are among those with the most insight into the league. Their Twitter feeds are among the best free fantasy football tools I can recommend for you. Hearing from them first can buy you the precious minutes you need to make moves before anyone else does.

FootballGuys

Football Guys is a website I’ve been using for some time. They show deeper stats such as snap count, snap percentage targets, and redone touches along with other stats that can be hard to find. It’s a great way to get a view of stats that don’t score points but can be indicators of the usage rate a player has.

FTN Fantasy

If you want to get even more granular stats, FTN Fantasy shows some DEEP stats, for QBs and WRs especially. There are a lot, and admittedly sometimes it does feel like overkill. However, stats such as aDOT (average Depth of Target) and Air Yards (how deep a QB throws the ball before the receiver catches it) are my personal favorites. Those are two great indicators of how many of the yards from a given pass play are coming from the QB throwing it and how many come from the receiver after the catch. While FootballGuys and FTN Fantasy do have some features locked behind a paywall, what they offer without paying a dime is worthy of making the free fantasy football tools list.

Stat Muse

Stat Muse is a wonderful way to filter stats easily. Simply type what you want to know into the top bar and you’ll get the information you ask for. What do Daniel Jones’s stats look like without Saquon Barkley? What about Derek Henry in the last three years? How many games has Alexander Mattison played without Dalvin Cook and how many rushing yards does he have?

Is AI the Answer?

ChatGPT

Use AI to build your weekly lineup or make your draft selections for you at your own peril. If you need a fantasy football name for your team go ahead and plug your roster into ChatGPT. You can ask it to generate a funny pun based on the players’ names. Not all suggestions will be winners. However, for those of you who lack creativity, ChatGPT is a tool you can use to do that for you.
