2023/24 is the season of consolidation on Fantrax for EPL scoring and position changes. We have decided, that we are not making any official scoring changes for the upcoming season, with a view of potential bigger changes coming in 24/25, however, there are some minor cosmetic changes any commissioner can make to their league scoring that we will detail here.
Fantrax Fantasy EPL Position Changes
|Player||Team||Old Position||New Position|
|Sergio Gomez||Man City||Midfielder||Defender|
Please Note: The position classifications of new signings entering the player pool are automatically determined by Opta. We may change these positions next year, once we have data on their role at their new EPL club.
Players Changed to Midfielders
Stefan Bajcetic has been changed from Defender To Midfielder. The Spanish youngster burst onto the scene and grabbed the opportunity presented by a midfield injury crisis at Liverpool to impress in the “number 6” role before his own injury ruled him out for the season. He will go into the season as Fabinho’s understudy but do not be surpőrised if he gets minutes in the Liverpool engine room. The Draft Society Staff was in a heated debate about new Arsenal player, Kai Havertz, and with all signs pointing to him being used as a midfielder in the future, there is definitely an argument to be made for his position change, however, we have decided against it as for the past years we have vowed to only make changes to player positions when we have enough EPL data to suggest that it is a permanent change. Come the end of the season, Havertz might be the first player on the position change list. However, I would like to remind all readers, that the incredible flexibility of the Fantrax platform allows position changes to be handled by commissioners, so if you feel that you can trust Arteta to play Kai as a CM and would like to make a change, simply by going to Commissioner/All Options/Position Eligibility Override (Full Season) and search for a player you decide to change.
Players Changed to Defenders
There are two players whose position has been changed and who played most/all of their minutes as left backs for their teams. The positional classification of Sergio Gomez and Lewis Hall, while both are attacking-minded players follows the pattern of classifying even the most attacking of full-backs as defenders.
Fantrax Fantasy EPL Settings Updates
As mentioned above, no changes have been made to the official Fantrax Default Scoring template, so renewing your leagues will result in the continuation of last year’s scoring. However, we would like to highlight a few changes that are cosmetic and commissioners could implement them if they chose to do so. We are working behind the scenes to come up with a scoring system that more closely mimics the ever-changing ecosystem of the EPL so any future scoring change that happens is well-researched and community-approved.
The following amendments could be made to the league templates for H2H and Total Points Leagues using Fantrax Default Scoring. Scoring changes can be made under Commissioner/League Setup/Scoring. For scoring categories to take effect for all players, they have to be added for Goalkeepers and Outfielders separately. We suggest adding the following categories, with the “Assign Points” column set as “0” as it will result in the categories appearing on “Live Scoring” and “Players” tabs but players not getting points for them.
