Fantasy Hockey Week 13 Waiver-Wire Goalies

The waiver wire is a great way to add hidden gems and overlooked players to your fantasy hockey club. This remains true whether you plan to have them as short-term or long-term parts of your fantasy hockey roster. Now that we are over two months into the season, we better understand which waiver-wire goalies are worth snagging. As a result, here are three waiver-wire goalies worth adding to your roster in Week 13.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Goalies to Consider for Week 13

Alex Nedeljkovic, Pittsburgh Penguins

One waiver-wire goalie to keep an eye on during Week 13 is Pittsburgh Penguins netminder Alex Nedeljkovic. The 27-year-old is quietly having an excellent season as the Penguins’ backup. In 11 appearances, he sports a 6-2-2 record, a 2.49 GAA, and a .924 SV%. The change of scenery is benefitting him big time, and he is not slowing down.

He was sensational in his last start against the New York Islanders on Dec. 31. In the Penguins’ win, he saved an impressive 37 out of 38 shots. With that, he also saved 23 out of 24 shots against the Carolina Hurricanes on Dec. 21. This a goalie who is feeling it, so definitely consider snagging him as a waiver-wire addition.

Samuel Ersson, Philadelphia Flyers

Samuel Ersson has been having a breakout season with the Philadelphia Flyers. In 16 games, he has a 9-5-2 record, a 2.54 GAA, and a .902 SV%. Due to his reliable play, he has won the backup job in Philadelphia and is starting to get more starts in the process. Thus, he is somebody to consider as a waiver-wire addition this week.

What is more encouraging about Ersson is that he is only getting better as the season rolls. He has had a .900 SV% or better in each of his last six appearances for the Flyers. He also has an impressive 8-2-1 record over his last 11 games. Due to this, he’s a waiver-wire goalie to take a chance on. He is continuing to improve as he gains more experience, which is great to see from the 24-year-old.

Dennis Hildeby, Toronto Maple Leafs

Due to Ilya Samsonov’s struggles, he was waived and then sent down to the AHL this weekend. In response to this, the Toronto Maple Leafs called up intriguing prospect Dennis Hildeby to their NHL roster. The 6-foot-7 netminder is now set to begin his NHL career. When looking at how well he has performed this season in the AHL, he is worth considering as a waiver-wire addition.

In 15 games this season with the Toronto Marlies, Hildeby has a 7-5-3 record, a .919 SV%, and a 2.20 GAA. Putting up solid numbers like that at the AHL level takes skill, and he has the potential to translate that over to the NHL. With that, he should get plenty of chances due to Toronto’s current goaltending issues, so don’t be afraid to bring him in as a waiver-wire addition for this week.

Nevertheless, Week 13 offers some solid waiver-wire choices between the pipes. Nedeljkovic and Ersson have been red-hot, while Hildeby has the potential to make an immediate impact in Toronto.
