Draft Fantasy Soccer Ranks Week 8

Here we are, the final week before another international break and the last chance for bragging rights for a week. Draft fantasy soccer managers will be looking to go into the break on a high note while preparing for the return of Kevin de Bruyne and Pascal Gross.

It has been a weird start to the season but things are starting to level out. The only top team failing at their expectations is Manchester United and I’m viewing this as a time to buy low on their assets. It’s a long season and draft fantasy soccer managers can find value in picking up/ trading for members of the team not named Alexis Sanchez.

I couldn’t tell you if Sanchez is neutered by United or if the miles on his legs are catching up to him but if I were you, I’d avoid him like the plague. But let’s get to what you came for, the week eight ranks.

Forwards:

The fatigue may not be fully gone but Harry Kane is back to his old ways scoring when he wants, and considering that Liverpool and Manchester City are facing off, he and Eden Hazard are forwards 1a and 1b. Leroy Sane concerns me with Mendy on the mend so this may be his last week being ranked in the near future. Andri Yarmolenko is slowly coming up to speed at West Ham and while he is very goal dependent, he should be started in most 10-12 team leagues. Wolves are killing me with Adama Traore but the name to watch is Ivan Cavaleiro. Back from injury, Cavalerio will challenge Diogo Jota and Helder Costa for time on the wing.

Midfielders:

Midfielders get the replacements this week! Meaning, super subs are playable. Just like Traore is played if he doesn’t start, Junior Stanislas should be played as long as he is in the squad. Especially since he is on penalty duties when King isn’t on the pitch. Also, James Maddison deserves respect heading into a clash with Everton that sees him as my midfielder one this week. I’d also like to take a second to talk about holding midfielders like Philip Billing, Mark Noble, and Luka Milivojevic. Their steady-eddy performances are the type of thing that helps you avoid getting burned by being a Henrikh Mkhitaryan owner in your draft fantasy soccer league.

Defenders

DISCLAIMER: If you are a Keiran Trippier owner, you should pick up or at least watch Kyle Walker-Peters as cover this weekend as Trippier played a full 90 in midweek. If you miss out on him, Diogo Dalot should also be starting for Manchester United this weekend.

Don’t look now, but Arsenal defenders are back in play with two straight clean sheets. Mustafi is a monster and Hector Bellerin is becoming serviceable again. It’s old man Pablo Zabaleta that won’t die with his set plays and ability to get forward for West Ham. Fade your Liverpool and Manchester center backs if you can, but otherwise, it’s going to be an interesting week for defenders because I don’t see many clean sheets in the future.
