2022 Fantasy Football: Week 7 Quarterback Streamers

For Week 6, I recommended Daniel Jones against Baltimore, Jimmy Garoppolo at Atlanta, and Justin Fields against Washington. Jones played well but passed for less than 200 yards in the upset and only ran for six yards, which limited his fantasy output. Garoppolo and Fields both came through for those who started them though, finishing as the fantasy QB9 and QB8 for the week, respectively.

Overall, Week 6 offered strong performances for fantasy GMs who eschewed drafting a quarterback early and have been streaming the position. If you drafted Lamar Jackson or Patrick Mahomes early or managed to snag Tua Tagovailoa or Geno Smith later on in your drafts, this article probably isn’t for you. But if you’ve been streaming quarterbacks this season or have Josh Allen or Jalen Hurts on bye, here are some viable Week 7 quarterback streamers with good matchups to target.

Week 7 Quarterback Streamers

Check out our Week 7 Rankings: QB | RB | WR | TE | PPR |

Note: The below quarterback streamers are the “best of the rest”, meaning that they’re generally rostered in less than about 50-60 percent of major fantasy football platforms at the time of this writing even after waivers have run on Wednesday.

Jimmy Garoppolo (19% ESPN, 45% Yahoo)

I recommended Jimmy Garoppolo as one of the top quarterback streamers last week at Atlanta, and he came through in a big way with a top-10 fantasy finish. With Nick Bosa still questionable and the 49ers’ secondary struggling after some injuries to impact players, the normally run-heavy San Francisco offense was forced to pass more playing from behind last week, and Garoppolo logged a season-high 41 pass attempts in the loss to the Falcons.

The same logic keeps him among the top options for Week 7 with an over/under of 48.5 total points projected for this game, the third-most of any game this week. Kansas City’s defense also ranks 28th against the pass in DVOA, and the Chiefs have allowed the sixth-most passing yards per game to opposing quarterbacks and eighth-most points per game to opponents thus far. If the 49ers fall behind early in this game, expect another more pass-heavy game from Garoppolo and the offense against a vulnerable Kansas City defense.

Marcus Mariota (20% ESPN, 24% Yahoo)

Through six weeks, Marcus Mariota‘s 43 rushing attempts ranks sixth among quarterbacks, and he already has three rushing touchdowns. Although the Bengals’ defense hasn’t allowed any big fantasy performances to opposing quarterbacks, they’ve struggled to stop mobile quarterbacks, having allowed 58 rushing yards to Lamar Jackson in Week 5.

In addition to his ability to create points on the ground, it helps that both Drake London and Kyle Pitts should be at full health heading into this game. Game script is the biggest risk here for Mariota, as the Falcons could be very run-heavy against a struggling Cincinnati run defense if the game is close throughout. Still, while Mariota may not have a massive ceiling in this game, he has fair upside along with a solid floor due to his rushing potential, which keeps him among the top quarterback streamers this week.

Taylor Heinicke (3% ESPN, 4% Yahoo)

The Packers have allowed very scant fantasy production to opposing quarterbacks through six weeks, but their performance is more impressive on paper considering they’ve played against very run-heavy offenses for half of those games. Justin Fields and Bailey Zappe combined for just 26 pass attempts in two of Green Bay’s wins, not to mention that Zappe came into the game without much preparation after Brian Hoyer was concussed early in Week 4.

Taylor Heinicke was wholly unimpressive as Washington’s starter last year, but he’s a mobile quarterback who offers rushing upside, and the Packers allowed 20 rushing yards and a touchdown to Fields in Week 2 and 37 rushing yards to Daniel Jones in Week 5. There’s also some optimism that Heinicke could improve upon his 2021 passing performance with the addition of Jahan Dotson and the return of a healthy Curtis Samuel this season. Heinicke is a risky bet, but as there aren’t many great options this week, he remains in the mix among the top quarterback streamers for Week 7.

Honorable Mentions

In deeper leagues, if none of the above-recommended quarterback streamers are available, the Jaguars’ defense has been inconsistent from week to week. Even on the road, Daniel Jones offers fantasy upside with his legs, as he currently has the fifth-most rushing attempts among quarterbacks through six weeks. And if you’re desperate, Jacoby Brissett should bounce back after a brutal loss to New England last week against a Baltimore defense that has allowed the fourth-most passing yards to opposing quarterbacks thus far on the season.
