Weekend Waiver Wire for NFL Week 15

If you are reading this, you are in the fantasy football playoffs of your league. Congratulations! You made it. I have some players listed here that may be available in your league. If you need help or simply want to block someone else who needs help in the playoffs now is the time to act.

Good luck!

This column refers to players rostered in under 50% of Yahoo, ESPN, and Sleeper Leagues.

Week 15 Weekend Waiver Wire

Quarterbacks

Joe Flacco, Cleveland Browns

Since taking over the starting role for the Browns Joe Flacco has passed for over 250 yards and multiple touchdowns in each game. He also has a high volume of passes, throwing 44 attempts in Week 13 and 45 in Week 15. The Browns are 8-5 and making a strong push for the playoffs so they will be competing and trying to win games right now. Flacco is playing against two bottom-feeding defenses at defending quarterbacks with the Bears in Week 15 and the Texans in Week 16. He could quite literally help you make the fantasy championship.

Bailey Zappe, New England Patriots

I know you cannot believe I am saying he is an add if you need a quarterback. Against a very tough Steelers defense in Week 14 Zappe threw for 240 yards and 3 touchdowns. This week he will be passing against the Chiefs more than likely to stay in the game. The Broncos and the Bills will be the teams the Patriots play in Week 16 and 17. Zappe is literally playing for his future in the league. The Patriots will not go quietly into the night

Other running backs to consider if you are desperate:

  • Mitchell Trubisky – Trubisky is only 4% rostered in Yahoo. I am not pretending he is a good quarterback. But he had multiple touchdowns in Week 14 and is capable of getting fantasy points even when being bad.
  • Jake Browning – Browning has multiple touchdowns and over 275 yards passing in two straight games. He is 47% rostered on Yahoo and playing to show what he is capable of.

Running Backs

Ty Chandler, Minnesota Vikings

Alexander Mattison is going to miss Week 15. Chandler will get the vast majority of backfield touches for the Vikings in Week 15. He may be a desperation play if you are missing Mattison or one of the other running backs that are out this week.

Tyjae Spears, Tennessee Titans

Spears Has double-digit fantasy days for two straight weeks. He is being heavily utilized in the passing game seeing 14 targets over this time frame. I really like him in PPR if you need a running back. He had 6 receptions for 89 yards in Week 14 and I expect him to see some sort of volume with targets.

Other running backs to consider if you are desperate:

  • Clyde Edwards-Helaire – 33% rostered on Yahoo if Pacheco is out again CEH will get the majority of backfield snaps against the Patriots.
  • Kenneth Gainwell, D’Ernest Johnson, and Elijah Mitchell are all guys that should be on your radar as handcuffs through the playoffs.

Wide Receivers

Juju Smith-Schuster, New England Patriots

The Patriots have a lot of injuries at wide receiver. In Week 14 Juju saw 6 targets which he turned into 4 receptions and 90 yards. He had a 21% target share in Week 14. HE is playable as the leading wide receiver for a professional team. If you are needy that is probably all you need to know.

Curtis Samuel, Washington Commanders

Samuel is typically one of my favorite players. He does a little of everything for teams when he is healthy. He is healthy. The Commanders struggle to run the ball and pass it profusely. In the past two games, Samuel has 17 targets, 13 receptions, and 165 yards. He is the best wide receiver for the Commanders and should be rostered at the very least.

Other wide receivers to consider:

  • Wan’Dale Robinson – Tommy Cutlets seems to be able to find Robinson on underneath routes, which is a good thing. Robinson had 7 targets, 6 receptions, 79 yards receiving and another 2 carries for 36 yards in Week 14. He is only 11% rostered on Yahoo.
  • Noah Brown – Brown appears to be the last man standing for the Texans at wide receiver. The Titans are up and give up the 8th most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. Rostered only 41% on Yahoo.

Tight Ends

Chig Okonkwo, Tennessee Titans

Chig has 17 targets over the past 3 games. Which he has turned into 12 receptions and 153 yards. The Texans give up the 4th most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. The Titans play them twice in the fantasy playoffs. He could be valuable for you twice!

Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers

Tucker had 4 targets in Week 14 which he turned in 4 receptions and 64 yards. This week the Packers play the Buccaneers who give up the 6th most fantasy points to tight ends. He fits the criteria of plug-and-play. He is available on the wire, involved in the offense, and in a nice match-up. I could not have crafted a better scenario for him. (see what I did there)
