Week 4 NFL Picks from Chris Meaney

For the third straight week, I’ve been on the wrong side of the Titans and Redskins. Tennessee has won three straight games against Jacksonville now, which is something to keep in mind going forward. Minnesota and Jacksonville surely kicked most out of survivor pools last week, but if you’re still in do you dare go against Buffalo again? I’m using the most recent lines leading up to Thursday Night kickoff, but keeping an eye on line movement. There’s no line in Jacksonville yet as the Titans are waiting to announce their starting QB. I don’t think it really matters as they’ll be in tough against that defense regardless of who is under center.

We’ll keep track of all my picks throughout the season, including my losses! Over time, we’ll find out if you should back me or straight up fade me. Send your complaints to @chrismeaney.

Last week:

SU: 10-6
AS: 8-8
O/U: 11-6

Season total:

SU: 25-21-2
AS: 25-23
O/U: 28-20

Week 4 NFL Picks

Minnesota Vikings @ Los Angeles Rams -7 (48.5)

SU: Los Angeles
AS: Minnesota
O/U: Over

It’s clear the Vikings were looking ahead to this game rather than their contest with the Bills last week. I expect them to bounce back and keep this game close. The Rams secondary may be an issue for them and Minnesota gets back Dalvin Cook. Two great offensive teams going head-to-head here.

Buffalo Bills @ Green Bay Packers -10 (45)

SU: Green Bay
AS: Green Bay
O/U: Under

What an unbelievable showing last week by the Bills as they were 17 point underdogs and went into Minnesota and smashed them. Josh Allen looked good, but it’ll be hard for him to keep up with Aaron Rodgers

Cincinnati Bengals @ Atlanta Falcons -5 (52)

SU: Atlanta
AS: Cincinnati
O/U: Over

Give me Atlanta at home, but let me jump on the over. The Falcons and Bengals are Top 10 in yards allowed and passing yards allowed. They both rank inside the Top 5 in fantasy points allowed to QB’s.

Detroit Lions @ Dallas Cowboys -3 (43.5)

SU: Detroit
AS: Detroit
O/U: Under

The Cowboys have played to the under in all three of their games. They like to slow the pace down and lean on Ezekiel Elliott. Detroit has allowed the most rushing yards so they’ll need to shape up there, but I like their offense more. Matthew Stafford has all kinds weapons to go along with a run game!

Houston Texans @ Indianapolis Colts -2 (47)

SU: Houston
AS: Houston
O/U: Under

Deshaun Watson has improved in each game since returning from his knee injury, while Andrew Luck has looked rusty. Give me the more desperate 0-3 Texans.

Miami Dolphins @ New England Patriots -6.5 (48)

SU: New England
AS: Miami
O/U: Over

Miami is 3-0 and the Patriots have lost two straight games where Tom Brady has finished as QB19 and QB28. What world are we living in here? It’s hard not to lean with the Patriots here, but Miami keeps it close thanks to a shaky NE secondary.

New York Jets @ Jacksonville Jaguars -7.5 (38.5)

SU: Jacksonville
AS: Jacksonville
O/U: Under

Pure letdown spot for Jacksonville at home last week against a division rival having just beat the snot out of New England. Maybe they just can’t beat Tennessee. They’ll have no problem with New York. Leonard Fournette is also expected to return.

Philadelphia Eagles -4 @ Tennesse Titans (41)

SU: Philadelphia
AS: Tennesse
O/U: Under

Just like last season, the Eagles are giving nothing up on the ground. This won’t be an easy task for Carson Wentz as he makes his second start of the season. It looks like he’ll get Alshon Jeffery back, though. The Titans could use a wide receiver like Alshon. Where are the points going to come from? Have a day Corey Davis.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Chicago Bears -3 (46.5)

SU: Chicago
AS: Chicago
O/U: Over

Ryan Fitzpatrick finally came back down to earth with three interceptions last week. He’s getting the start again, though, and it may be his last. The Bears lead the league in sacks and their five interceptions rank third.

Cleveland Browns @ Oakland Raiders -3 (45)

SU: Cleveland
AS: Cleveland
O/U: Under

Baker Mayfield made his NFL debut last week and the Browns had spotted the Jets a 14-0 lead. Mayfield looked awesome and helped Cleveland pick up tits first win since 2016. It seems odd they would be underdogs in Oakland after hanging around earlier in the year in New Orleans. The defense is legit and Mayfield looks it too. Feels like a trap game, but give me the Browns to make it two straight wins.

Seattle Seahawks -3 @ Arizona Cardinals (45)

SU: Seattle
AS: Seattle
O/U: Under

Seattle is just the fourth team this week to be favored on the road. They’ll get a much needed boost in the passing game with the return of Doug Baldwin. Meanwhile, Sam Bradford is out and Josh Rosen is in. Looks like he’ll be without Larry Fitzgerald, though.

New Orleans Saints -3.5 @ New York Giants (50.5)

SU: New Orleans
AS: New Orleans
O/U: Over

When these two teams played each other in 2015, the final score was 52-49 in favor of New Orleans. Drew Brees and Eli Manning combined for 855 yards and 13 touchdowns. The defense has looked that bad again in New Orleans, but they are the better team overall.

San Francisco 49ers @ Los Angeles Chargers -10.5 (46.5)

SU: Los Angeles
AS: Los Angeles
O/U: Under

This is a very tough spot for the San Francisco 49ers who have to turn to C.J. Beathard at quarterback. The Chargers in a cake walk.

Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers -3 (50.5)

SU: Pittsburgh
AS:  Pittsburgh
O/U: Over

Big Ben had 500 yards passing the last time he played the Ravens, and we all know about how good he is at home. These two division rivals usually play each other pretty tight and Pittsburgh defense (or lack there of), should keep the Ravens in it. I’m expecting points.

Kansas City Chiefs – 4 @ Denver Broncos (55)

SU: Kansas City
AS: Kansas City
O/U: Under

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs continue to roll as they lead the league in points scored. Mahomes has 13 passing touchdowns and this offense looks legit. The defense doesn’t, though, as they have allowed the most points, yards and passing yards.
