Fantrax Injury Report – Jazz Chisholm Jr. Injured… Again

Here is the Fantrax Injury Report for Sunday, August 6, 2023. In today’s edition, it looks as if Trevor Story will take close to the full twenty days from which to finish his rehab assignment. He will miss time through the weekend, but his rehab finishes on Wednesday, which is the absolute latest that he can return. Also, Jazz Chisholm Jr. injured himself yet again yesterday, but he himself thinks he’ll be fine. Whether or not that’s the case remains to be seen. Finally, Mason Miller took another big step forward today, and the hope is that he can pitch again this season. All that and more in today’s Injury Report from Fantrax.

MLB Injury Report

Gabriel Moreno – C Arizona Diamondbacks

There has been little to no news regarding Moreno, who has been off since July 23. Since then, Carson Kelly has just three hits, so the Diamondback would obviously welcome a return from Moreno.

Garrett Whitlock – SP/RP Boston Red Sox

Whitlock will likely be back as a reliever, so his ramp-up to action won’t take as long as it would had he been a starter.

Trevor Story – 2B/SS Boston Red Sox

Story’s return to Boston has and will be delayed even further. It looks like he will take the twenty-day maximum before he comes back, though anything is possible as of Monday.

Gregory Santos – RP Chicago White Sox

It looks like the White Sox will have a new closer for the short term while Santos is away to be with his family.

Jake Fraley – OF Cincinnati Reds

Fraley was mysteriously left out of Friday’s game and the reason for it was finally revealed a day later. It’s good to see that he will be working on returning, but an absence this late in the season is difficult to overcome.

Nick Lodolo – SP Cincinnati Reds, Jonathan India – 2B Cincinnati Reds

Lodolo’s live bullpen and two innings on Friday make for a good week as he continues to ramp himself back to the Reds. He is still slated to return later this month, but he also has a lot of hurdles to clear in the meantime. Meanwhile, India is expected back soon, with some speculation having him return on Tuesday.

Javier Baez – SS Detroit Tigers

Baez may or may not be placed on the bereavement list. Either way, his family is wished the best.

Taylor Ward – OF Los Angeles Angels

Ward is essentially out of action for the remainder of the year. More important than baseball, both his livelihood and health are wished well.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. – 2B/OF Miami Marlins

Chisholm Jr. left the game yesterday after cramping up in his hamstring while trying to steal a base. There’s no telling as to whether or not he will be back in today’s game. Consider him DTD with the real possibility that he spends time on the Injured List.

Rowdy Tellez – 1B Milwaukee Brewers

Tellez seems to be healed from his forearm injury and the stitches he needed to heal a massive gash in his hand. Now, he’ll work to get himself back into game shape with some rehab.

Mason Miller – SP Oakland Athletics

Miller continues to progress with the hope of returning this season. The Athletics will continue to take things slowly with one of their best prospects.

Brandon Marsh – OF Philadelphia Phillies

The hope is that everything is okay, but Marsh had to be removed after this scary incident. There have been reports that Marsh himself is very optimistic about his knee, but I admittedly could not get the link in the video to work.

Anthony DeSclafani – SP/RP San Francisco Giants

DeSclafani has been out of action with a right elbow flexor strain and will ultimately miss most of the remainder of the season.

Shane McClanahan – SP Tampa Bay Rays

This is an ominous sign of what could be coming. The Rays can ill-afford to lose their best pitcher this late in the season, but they’ve shown resiliency before. While we don’t want to prematurely guess, it sounds like it’s a serious injury with long ramifications involved. That said, the professionals will decide the cause and the cure.

Nathan Eovaldi – SP Texas Rangers

This is the first positive news that we’ve seen regarding Eovaldi in quite some time. Here’s hoping it’s the first of many news items in that same vein.

Danny Jansen – C Toronto Blue Jays

It would appear that Jansen will be DTD for now. Chances are that he’s back in the lineup soon enough barring some unforeseen setbacks.
