MLB Injury Report

John Means – SP Baltimore Orioles

This was a great way to get back onto the mound, as Means looked sharp here. His velocity looked set around his pre-TJS ways and he was able to utilize many secondary pitches as well. He’ll look to ramp himself up even more than the 28 pitches thrown.

Tanner Houck – SP/RP Boston Red Sox

Houck looked good in his rehab outing, as he was able to hit 95 on the radar gun with his fastball. He’ll need to ramp himself up to pitch longer as he seems bound for the rotation.

Justin Turner – INF Boston Red Sox

Turner did not play in last night’s game. It is speculated that he will be back today. That said, if he misses Saturday’s game, that will have been five straight and he could very well go on the Injured List.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand – 1B Cincinnati Reds

Encarnacion-Strand was hit by a pitch on the hand in the fifth inning. Structural damage has already been ruled out, but that doesn’t mean that he won’t miss some time away while it heals. Consider him DTD until we hear otherwise.

Jonathan India – 2B Cincinnati Reds

Ugh, a second opinion is never a good thing. For now, he’s two weeks away from doing any running whatsoever. Assuming all goes well, he’ll need time after that to ramp himself back up into game shape. It could be at least one month before we see him again.

Nick Lodolo – SP Cincinnati Reds

No word on his velocity readings, but these numbers are encouraging. It has been speculated that Lodolo will return sometime around August 20, around the time that Hunter Greene is set to come back.

Jose Abreu – 1B Houston Astros

With a trip to the Injured List not officially ruled out, the next few days will be imperative. While Abreu is an older player, the hope is that rest will give him what he needs to get back into the lineup. Stay tuned.

Maikel Garcia – INF Kansas City Royals

Garcia had just extended his hitting streak to fifteen games, which is a Royals’ rookie record. There wasn’t much information given on his situation, other than we would get an update today. Stay tuned.

Mike Trout – OF Los Angeles Angels

Yet another step in the right direction for Trout, as he continues to work on getting back into the lineup. As it says here though, there is no timeline for a return just yet.

J.D. Martinez – UT Los Angeles Dodgers

Stay tuned as there’s a chance that Martinez feels good enough to get into and stay in the lineup by Sunday.

Walker Buehler – SP Los Angeles Dodgers

As stated in this column yesterday, Buehler himself said that mid-September might be a stretch, but things change daily. Whenever he does come back, it looks like it will be as a traditional starter.

Francico Lindor – SS New York Mets

Lindor had his franchise-record 223 consecutive game stretch snapped with this injury. He tried to work through it during the pre-game warmups but said that his pain was lingering. It remains to be seen what more will come of this, but the imaging will tell us more. This could lead to a call-up of Ronny Mauricio.

Anthony Rizzo – 1B New York Yankees

It’s good to see that Rizzo’s condition is getting the attention it deserves. Hopefully, he will get better soon and be back on the field at one hundred percent health.

Frankie Montas – SP Oakland Athletics

Montas has been on this throwing program since June and has yet to progress any further. Perhaps with the Yankees likely missing the playoffs, he will wait until next year to pitch again for the Bronx Bombers.

Nestor Cortes – SP New York Yankees

Cortes will not throw until at least the middle of September. From there, he will need to ramp things up before a potential return. It might depend on where the Yankees are in the standings before a decision is made regarding that return. He is worth dropping in redraft formats.

DJ LeMahieu – INF New York Yankees

LeMahieu did not come off the bench in last night’s game and has not played in three consecutive contests. Consider him DTD with a decision to be made soon.

Mason Miller – SP Oakland Athletics

Today is a big day for Miller, who will throw two innings of a batting practice session. Should this happen without any issues, we could see him on a long rehab appearance soon enough.

Bryce Harper – 1B/OF Philadelphia Phillies

It looks like Harper’s back will depend on how he feels when he wakes up in the morning. Look for details and updates later today.

Kyle Schwarber – OF Philadelphia Phillies

Schwarber fouled a ball off of his foot last night and had to be relieved of his duties. More updates will take place today.

San Francisco Giants – Team Update

Haniger has been out of action for a while and still has a ways to go. It looks like he needs another two weeks or so before returning. As for Yastrzemski, he could be back at some point this weekend.

J.P. Crawford – SS Seattle Mariners

Crawford collided with teammate Eugenio Suarez on Wednesday and will now miss a week while he recovers from concussion symptoms.

Tyler Glasnow – SP Tampa Bay Rays

With Glasnow set to pitch Monday, it looks like the team is taking the precautionary route regarding his health.

Jonah Heim – C Texas Rangers

Heim is progressing well and is rumored to be back this upcoming week. There was some speculation that he would be in a platoon role upon his return, but nothing has yet been solidified.

Jordan Romano – RP Toronto Blue Jays

Be prepared.

Danny Jansen – C Toronto Blue Jays

Jansen did not appear in last night’s game, but he seems close to returning.
