Fantrax Injury Report: April 6, 2023 – Jazz, Eloy, Lars, Cruz, Verlander and more

Here is the Fantrax Injury Report for Thursday, April 6, 2023.

Your league didn’t use Fantrax this season? Preposterous! Check out all that Fantrax has to offer and we think your entire league will make a change for next season.

Kyle Bradish – SP Baltimore Orioles

The foot contusion injury will require a longer-term recovery process. He is eligible to return in two weeks, and the Orioles are confident that he will be back for the team when they’re in Washington.

Brayan Bello – SP Boston Red Sox

Bello pitched here instead of the team’s Triple-A affiliate because of the weather, not a setback. He will likely need at least one real rehab outing before making his 2023 debut.

Garrett Whitlock – SP Boston Red Sox

Whitlock still needs to make one more rehab start today, but assuming all goes well, Tuesday is the plan.

Eloy Jimenez – OF Chicago White Sox

Jimenez hurt himself trying to go from first to third on a base hit. It is believed that he will miss only two weeks, but given his injury history, it’s possible for the full three weeks. All that being said, he should be back before the month of May begins.

Jazz Chisholm – 2B/OF Miami Marlins

Considering the look and nature of the injury, this is good news. He’s unlikely to play in today’s game and is DTD, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he’s out for a few days.

Aaron Ashby – SP/RP Milwaukee Brewers

Significant time indeed, as this will keep him out for most if not all of the 2023 season. His diagnosis has gone from bad to worse, but if this is a long-term fix, then he’s a candidate for a 2024 sleeper already.

Max Kepler – OF Minnesota Twins

Kepler is out for another game after suffering from a bout of patellar tendinitis. It remains to be seen if he will return soon or require an IL stint.

Justin Verlander – SP New York Mets

Verlander has not stopped throwing since his teres major muscle diagnosis. Reduced inflammation is a promising development. While it states no timetable, there have been murmurs of an April 25 return date, though nothing is set in stone.

Omar Narvaez – C New York Mets

This injury paved the way for a Francisco Alvarez call-up.

Josh Donaldson – 3B New York Yankees

While the team doesn’t fear anything serious, it’s important to note that Donaldson has difficulty remaining in the lineup in his elder years. Regardless of if there is an Injury List trip waiting to happen, consider him out for the foreseeable future.

Brandon Marsh – OF Philadelphia Phillies

The team will reassess his health before their next game, but it doesn’t appear to be too serious at this time.

Darick Hall – 1B/UT Philadelphia Phillies

This was the only news regarding Hall’s injury status, with no indication of how long he is expected to miss. There will likely be an update later today.

Oneil Cruz – SS Pittsburgh Pirates

The injury happened when Curz collided with Rafael Devers. It looked like his left eye was hurting the most out of everything on his face. Stay tuned for updates.

Thairo Estrada – 2B/SS San Francisco Giants

Interesting to note that it was still stiff, but the team seems confident in his return today. Play him with confidence unless told otherwise.

St. Louis Cardinals – Team Update

Some important progression notes here. Wainwright will throw a bullpen today and the team will determine its next steps for him. Nootbar could go on a rehab assignment, which might delay his return. DeJong will likely need an extended rehab outing, as he’ll need to prepare with his bat and glove…there’s talk of him being a utility player upon his return.
