Fantasy Hockey Week 22 Goalie Streams – 03/11/24

In the 22nd week of the 2023-24 NHL season, there are some good goalie options you can add to your fantasy team. Whether you need netminders for just this week or for longer, we’ll cover the best ones to pick up. When looking for goalies to stream in fantasy hockey, it’s best to look at back-to-backs, if there are injuries to starters, or if a starter is struggling. This is a look at the three best goalie streams in Week 22 of the fantasy hockey season.

Fantasy Hockey Week 22 Goalie Streams

Jonathan Quick, New York Rangers

The New York Rangers are first in their division and fifth in the league in points. This team has gotten great goaltending this season and Jonathan Quick has been a big story in how he turned his career around. As the backup who hasn’t played much recently, he has likely become more available in fantasy leagues, especially because of how well Igor Shesterkin is playing. But the Rangers have a unique week ahead of them.

The Rangers play five times this week, which means two back-to-backs, with a game in the middle. Quick will start at least two of those, and both of his starts may not come on the second game either. The team plays the New Jersey Devils and Carolina Hurricanes, then the Tampa Bay Lightning, and wrap up the week with the second back-to-back against the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Islanders. The two most important games are against the Hurricanes and Islanders, so Shesterkin is more than likely going to start there. This means Quick gets the easiest matchups of the week and have a rested team in front of him. He’s 13-5-2 on the season with a .916 SV%. He has a good chance of putting up strong numbers this week and is guaranteed to get you two starts.

James Reimer, Detroit Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings have not played well lately, but that should change this week with an easier schedule. Their opponents are the Buffalo Sabres twice, the Arizona Coyotes, and the Penguins. Alex Lyon has proven to be the starter, but he has also gone five consecutive games with a sub-.900 SV%. James Reimer on the other hand has only gone two.

I can see the Red Wings splitting the starters this week unless Lyon has an amazing game to lead off the week. The team has a back-to-back on the weekend anyway and the opponents are not that tough. In the midst of a playoff race, anything has to be on the table. Reimer has a .904 SV% on the season, whereas Lyon has a .908. They are not that different and the Red Wings might be seeing Lyon get tired out and use Reimer more. He is still a good goalie despite the lack of games this season.

Laurent Brossoit, Winnipeg Jets

Connor Hellebuyck is the clear starter for the Winnipeg Jets, but Laurent Brossoit has been playing great at a time when Hellebuyck is struggling. This has caused the goalies to split the past four starts. Brossoit has won both, including one shutout, while Hellebuyck has allowed nine goals and lost both of the games.

Brossoit has a .924 SV% while Hellebuyck has a .921 SV%. Hellebuyck is still the better goalie, but for now, they could once again split the four games this week against weaker opponents while the team tries to take over first in their division to get the easier first-round matchup. The Jets face the Washington Capitals, Nashville Predators, Anaheim Ducks, and Columbus Blue Jackets. The most important game is against the Predators, so you should expect Hellebuyck to get the start there. This means Brossoit should get two favorable matchups this week with another chance to win both.

Make sure to take advantage of these goalies for this week. The longer you wait, the more of a chance someone you may want is picked up before you get to them. There are early games that you will want to take advantage of as well. While a couple of these goaltenders should get at least one start this week, be sure to keep an eye on any other options throughout the week that may become solid options as well.
