Fantasy Basketball: Fringe Report – Robert Williams

A massive 12 games to get through for a Wednesday, headlined by the Phoenix Suns racking up their fourth straight victory, accounting for the Boston Celtics. Despite the loss, Robert Williams came through with five blocked shots and with Aron Baynes suffering a broken hand, could be ready to break out. The Timelord is available in over 80 percent of leagues but that could change very quickly. Let’s look at all 12 games and those players who may or may not have earned themselves some standard league recognition.

Players to Add

Marvin Williams, Robert Williams, Fred VanVleet, P.J. Tucker, Jeff Green, Reggie Bullock.

Players to Stream

Bryn Forbes, Marco Belinelli, Davis Bertans, Mike Muscala, Landry Shamet, Richaun Holmes, Greg Monroe, DeMarre Carroll, Ed Davis, Gerald Green, Darius Miller, Langston Galloway, Jose Calderon, Kyle Korver, Garrett Temple, Nerlens Noel.

Charlotte Hornets def. Cleveland Cavaliers 110-99

Hornets

Marvin Williams (37%) – Add: Williams dropped 20 points including four triples, playing 37 minutes in the victory Wednesday. He doesn’t provide a lot on the defensive end but is a nice source of points, threes, and rebounds and should be added in most formats at this stage.

Miles Bridges (37%) – Drop: Bridges managed just two points after scoring 17 points in his previous outing. Both the playing time and production are too inconsistent to have any real value.

Guillermo Hernangomez (29%) – Drop

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (24%) – Drop: Kidd-Gilchrist had his first double-digit scoring game in over two weeks while adding a combined four defensive stats. He has the ability to put up standard league value but we would need to see him do this a couple more times before taking any real notice.

Frank Kaminsky (18%) – Drop

Tony Parker (16%) – Drop: Parker had a good game Wednesday, scoring 12 points in 23 minutes. Prior to this, he has scored just six points in two games which demonstrated his fluctuating production.

Cavaliers

Alec Burks (26%) – Watch: Burks played 25 minutes and was able to chip in across the board. The playing time has been there despite his inefficient shooting and he is worth watching to see if he can get hot.

David Nwaba (13%) – Drop

Ante Zizic (12%) – Drop

Jaron Blossomgame (8%) – Drop: Blossomgame played 23 minutes for the second straight game, scoring 15 points including three triples. The Cavaliers are very shorthanded at the moment, however, Blossomgame typically doesn’t see enough usage to put up value.

Channing Frye (3%) – Drop

San Antonio Spurs def. Orlando Magic 129-90

Spurs

Jakob Poeltl (39%) – Drop

Bryn Forbes (31%) – Stream: Forbes hit three triples on his way to 17 points Wednesday, but added just four rebounds. He can be a source of threes on nights his shot is dropping and so could be streamed in at a pinch.

Derrick White (26%) – Watch: White played 34 minutes Wednesday, finishing with nine points and six assists. The playing time continues to fluctuate which means he is simply to inconsistent to roster right now. The point guard spot is still up in the air and so he is worth keeping an eye on moving forward.

Patty Mills (26%) – Drop

Marco Belinelli (19%) – Stream: Belinelli hit another four triples on his way to 18 points in Wednesday’s win. He has now hit 11 threes in his last three games and of all the Spurs guards, seems the most likely to produce value on any given night.

Davis Bertans (13%) – Stream: Much like Marco Belinelli and Bryn Forbes, Bertans value comes from his ability to hit the long ball.

Dante Cunningham (9%) – Drop

Quincy Pondexter (1%) – Drop

Drew Eubanks (1%) – Drop

Magic

Jonathan Simmons (21%) – Drop: Simmons has no value, being a mediocre scorer who doesn’t shoot three-pointers.

Jerian Grant (20%) – Drop

Wes Iwundu (5%) – Drop

Isaiah Briscoe (4%) – Drop

Jarell Martin (4%) – Drop

Philadelphia 76ers def. New York Knicks 131-109

76ers

Wilson Chandler (19%) – Drop: Chandler continues to start for the 76ers but simply doesn’t have the opportunities to put up any real value, sharing the court with Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Jimmy Butler.

Mike Muscala (18%) – Stream: Muscala hit another three triples Wednesday, adding seven rebounds and one block. Muscala is firmly behind Joel Embiid in the rotation but provides an interesting skill set and could be streamed in if you need a center who can block shots and hit threes.

T.J. McConnell (18%) – Drop: After a brief run of value, McConnell has regressed over the past four games. He can provide some steals and assists if that is what you are after but chances are there is someone with more upside sitting on the waivers somewhere.

Landry Shamet (16%) – Stream: Shamet has now hit 17 triples in his last six games making him well worth a look if you need some perimeter offense.

Furkan Korkmaz (12%) – Drop

Amir Johnson (7%) – Drop

Shake Milton (5%) – Drop

Demetrius Jackson (1%) – Drop

Knicks

Mario Hezonja (46%) – Drop

Trey Burke (42%) – Drop

Frank Ntilikina (38%) – Drop: The backup point guard spot in New York is far too unpredictable to bother wasting your time with.

Damyean Dotson (26%) – Watch: Dotson returned after missing three games, finishing with 14 points in 22 minutes. Dotson does nothing but score, however, given the Knicks lack of just about any scoring, he is worth keeping an eye on to see if he can keep this going.

Courtney Lee (14%) – Drop

Luke Kornet (5%) – Drop

Lance Thomas (2%) – Drop

Phoenix Suns def. Boston Celtics 111-103

Suns

Mikal Bridges (44%) – Watch: Bridges continues to see decent playing time but is yet to come through with any consistent production. The arrival of Kelly Oubre could further limit Bridges upside and so he is simply worth monitoring at this stage.

De’Anthony Melton (40%) – Watch: Melton has now put up four straight duds and holding him is becoming very difficult. If you can still hold, he is worth giving another chance. If he is on your waivers, simply keeping an eye on him is likely sufficient.

Richaun Holmes (39%) – Stream: DeAndre Ayton is starting to trend back up which could take away from some of Holmes appeal. That being said, he has likely done enough to remain a regular part of the rotation and is still worth streaming in if you need blocks and field-goal percentage.

Jamal Crawford (10%) – Drop: Crawford played just 15 minutes Wednesday, 10 minutes fewer than his previous three games. The arrival of Kelly Oubre appears as though it will limit Crawford and he can be left alone in standard formats.

Celtics

Robert Williams (18%) – Add: Aron Baynes suffered a broken hand and looks set to miss at least a month, which should give Williams an excellent opportunity. Al Horford is still without a timetable for his return and although Williams may remain on the bench, his upside is clear for all to see. If you need blocks, rebounds, and field-goal percentage, William is likely to be one of the hottest pickups over the next few days.

Daniel Theis (13%) – Watch: Much like Williams, Theis is going to benefit from the injury to Baynes. Theis doesn’t possess the upside of Williams but could still see an uptick in his production. Williams would be the preferable add here but Theis could have some sneaky value if Williams is already gone.

Semi Ojeleye (5%) – Drop

Toronto Raptors def. Indiana Pacers 99-96

Raptors

Fred VanVleet (48%) – Add: VanVleet returned after missing just one game, moving straight back into the starting lineup, replacing the injured Kyle Lowry. If Lowry is forced to miss additional time, VanVleet is a no-brainer in most formats.

OG Anunoby (32%) – Drop

Delon Wright (17%) – Drop: Wright is able to do a bit of everything but typically doesn’t see enough playing time to have a real impact.

Greg Monroe (15%) – Stream: Monroe started in place of Serge Ibaka who was out with a knee injury, finishing with 13 points and eight rebounds. Ibaka’s injury doesn’t sound too serious but if he is forced to miss further time, Monroe is certainly worth streaming in.

Norman Powell (8%) – Drop

C.J. Miles (8%) – Drop

Chris Boucher (7%) – Drop

Malachi Richardson (3%) – Drop

Pacers

Cory Joseph (25%) – Drop: Aside from some steals and assists, Joseph provides very little and can be left on the waivers.

Doug McDermott (12%) – Drop

Brooklyn Nets def. Chicago Bulls 96-93

Nets

DeMarre Carroll (39%) – Stream: Carroll had just three points Wednesday, playing just 19 minutes. Prior to this game he has been playing well and he could still be worth streaming in if you need some points and threes. Keep in mind his upside is very limited, as is any trust you might have in his playing time.

Ed Davis (27%) – Stream: Davis pulled down another six rebounds Wednesday, and remains one of the more consistent rebounding options available on waivers.

Rodions Kurucs (16%) – Drop

Shabazz Napier (10%) – Drop

Jared Dudley (6%) – Drop

Bulls

Ryan Arcidiacono (19%) – Watch: Zach LaVine is going to miss up to a month after undergoing knee surgery, meaning Arcidiacono will likely remain in the starting lineup. Despite the promotion, Arcidiacono is simply a player to watch to see if he can get hot.

Chandler Hutchison (15%) – Drop

Cameron Payne (13%) – Drop

Shaquille Harrison (13%) – Watch: Much like Arcidiacono, Harrison is going to receive a boost due to the extended absence of Zach LaVine. Harrison has the most upside of all three backup point-guards but again, is simply worth watching at this stage.

Robin Lopez (12%) – Drop

Houston Rockets def. Washington Wizards 136-118

Rockets

P.J. Tucker (46%) – Add: Over the past week, Tucker is the 87th ranked player on the back of some efficient three-point shooting. He has scored in double-digits in three straight games and is worth thinking about while he is hot.

Marquese Chriss (18%) – Drop

Brandon Knight (17%) – Drop

Gerald Green (11%) – Stream: Green has now hit multiple three-pointers in four of his past five games, averaging 3.2 makes over that same period.

Gary Clark (10%) – Drop

Isaiah Hartenstein (8%) – Drop

Danuel House (8%) – Drop: House continues to see decent minutes for the Rockets but typically has little fantasy impact.

Michael Carter-Williams (6%) – Drop

Wizards

Jeff Green (38%) – Add: Green had another double-digit night Wednesday, his sixth from his past seven games. The extended absence of Otto Porter has certainly helped Green and he should be rostered right now while he is playing big minutes.

Tomas Satoransky (23%) – Watch: Despite being the primary backup guard, Satoransky is yet to rediscover the form he showed last season. Keep an eye on him to see if he can get things going but at this stage, there is not much point throwing him on your roster.

Troy Brown (16%) – Drop

Thomas Bryant (15%) – Drop: Bryant continues to show some flashes of upside but remains far too inconsistent to warrant a permanent roster spot.

Sam Dekker (10%) – Drop: Dekker scored 15 points Wednesday but that came on 7-of-8 shooting and in just 15 minutes of playing time. He would need to make these kinds of performances more regular to move into the standard league discussion.

Chasson Randle (2%) – Drop

Jordan McRae (0%) – Drop

Milwaukee Bucks def. New Orleans Pelicans 123-115

Bucks

George Hill (35%) – Drop: Hill had his best game as a member of the Bucks, scoring 11 points and racking up three steals. Prior to this he had scored a total of just nine points in his previous four games.

Thon Maker (14%) – Drop

Sterling Brown (9%) – Drop

Tony Snell (6%) – Drop: Snell produced his second straight game scoring at least 12 points but added very little else. This is likely a mere illusion and there is no need to grab him in standard formats.

D.J. Wilson (6%) – Watch: Wilson fell just one point shy of his first career double-double Wednesday, as he continues to play well in limited minutes. He is not worth adding yet but he is trending up and is someone to watch.

Pelicans

Tim Frazier (30%) – Watch: Frazier has now had two straight performances resulting in minimal production. His playing time is down and he has just two points and five assists across those two games. If you are holding him, you could give him one more game to try and turn things around.

Frank Jackson (11%) – Drop

Cheick Diallo (10%) – Drop

Darius Miller (9%) – Stream: Miller is about as streaky a shooter as you will find, evidenced by his last two games. He connected on 6-of-11 three-pointers Wednesday as opposed to his 1-of-8 just three days prior. Despite his inconsistent shooting, the playing time is there and he is worth streaming in to see if he can keep things going.

Jahlil Okafor (8%) – Drop: Okafor exploded for a season-high 17 points Wednesday, taking advantage of the distinct lack of bigs in New Orleans at the moment. Both Julius Randle and Nikola Mirotic are out with injuries and Anthony Davis left this game twice due to illness and an ankle injury. Davis did return and finished the game strongly but the situation is worth monitoring in case he is forced to sit a game or two.

Andrew Harrison (5%) – Drop

Solomon Hill (5%) – Drop

Wesley Johnson (4%) – Drop

Detroit Pistons def. Minnesota Timberwolves 129-123 (OT)

Pistons

Reggie Bullock (34%) – Add: Bullock has now scored 72 points in his last three games, including 16 triples. Add him.

Stanley Johnson (27%) – Drop: Johnson came back to earth Wednesday after scoring 20 points just two days prior. He is too unreliable to roster at this stage.

Luke Kennard (25%) – Drop

Langston Galloway (13%) – Stream: Galloway is a low-end streamer based on the fact that he is attempting an average of 3.2 three-pointers over his last seven games.

Bruce Brown (9%) – Drop

Zaza Pachulia (8%) – Drop

Jon Leuer (4%) – Drop

Jose Calderon (3%) – Stream: Much like Langston Galloway, Calderon is a very low-end streaming option, averaging 6.3 assists over his past six games.

Timberwolves

Josh Okogie (20%) – Drop

Tyus Jones (17%) – Drop: The fact that Jones only played 15 minutes even with Jeff Teague on the sidelines, should say enough about his fantasy value moving forward.

Gorgui Dieng (15%) – Drop

Anthony Tolliver (8%) – Drop

Utah Jazz def. Golden State Warriors 108-103

Jazz

Dante Exum (18%) – Drop

Kyle Korver (15%) – Stream: Korver is well renowned for his three-point shooting but he is getting on in his career. Basically, all of his shots are three-point attempts which means he can be worth streaming in on occasions.

Royce O’Neale (8%) – Drop

Thabo Sefolosha (4%) – Drop

Warriors

Jordan Bell (41%) – Drop

Kevon Looney (27%) – Drop

Jonas Jerebko (16%) – Drop: Of all the Warriors bench players, Jerebko appears to have the best chance at even coming close to standard league value. However, even he would need an injury to carve out a significant enough role to realize that chance.

Andre Iguodala (15%) – Drop

Quinn Cook (14%) – Drop

Alfonzo McKinnie (9%) – Drop

Shaun Livingston (6%) – Drop

Portland Trail Blazers def. Memphis Grizzlies 99-92

Trail Blazers

Evan Turner (33%) – Drop: Turner impacts the game from a reality perspective for the Trail Blazers, but unfortunately that does not translate to consistent fantasy production.

Zach Collins (31%) – Watch: Collins has played well over his past three games and is rediscovering some of the form he showed earlier in the season. He is still not quite there when it comes to standard league production but he is worth watching to see if he can continue to trend up.

Moe Harkless (24%) – Watch: Despite a mediocre performance Wednesday, Harkless is still someone to keep an eye on in case he can fully rediscover his form from late last season.

Seth Curry (13%) – Drop

Nik Stauskas (12%) – Drop

Meyer Leonard (7%) – Drop: Leonard came through for 12 points and eight rebounds Wednesday in one of his better performances of the season. Prior to this game, however, he had recorded a total of just 14 points in his last seven games.

Grizzlies

Garrett Temple (29%) – Stream: Temple put up 10 points to go with a combined four steals and blocks Wednesday. It was his third double-digit scoring game in his past four, a period where he has also managed five steals and five blocks. He could very well produce absolutely nothing in the next game but if you need some defensive numbers, he could be worth a look.

Shelvin Mack (19%) – Drop

MarShon Brooks (10%) – Drop

Jevon Carter (10%) – Drop

Wayne Selden Jr. (10%) – Drop

Ivan Rabb (5%) – Drop

Oklahoma City Thunder def. Sacramento Kings 132-113

Thunder

Nerlens Noel (36%) – Stream: Noel put up three blocks in 14 minutes Wednesday and has now recorded at least one block in 11 straight games, thus outlining his defensive upside. He is a specialist and could help you out if you need some steals and blocks.

Hamidou Diallo (12%) – Drop

Patrick Patterson (9%) – Drop

Terrance Ferguson (9%) – Drop: Ferguson matched his season-high of 14 points Wednesday after not scoring in double-figures since early November. Much of his production came in garbage time and there is no need to get excited at all.

Alex Abrines (6%) – Drop

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot (5%) – Drop

Abdel Nader (1%) – Drop

Kings

Justin Jackson (15%) – Drop: Jackson scored 10 points in 37 minutes Wednesday, increasing his role with Bogdan Bogdanovic on the sidelines. Jackson has a very unfriendly fantasy game and can be ignored in standard formats.

Skal Labissiere (12%) – Drop

Yogi Ferrell (11%) – Drop: Ferrell is certainly not a player to be looking at in standard formats despite his recent uptick in playing time.

Frank Mason (11%) – Drop

Kosta Koufos (8%) – Drop
