Fantasy Football: Week 12 Running Back Matchup Report

Among the many stories coming out of Week 11 was the continued emergence of Vikings’ running back Latavius Murray. Murray began the preseason on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list with an ankle injury. He quickly fell down the depth chart behind dynamic rookie Dalvin Cook and saw just seven touches in September. Once Cook was lost for the season with a torn ACL, Jerick McKinnon dominated fantasy headlines, but Murray’s role slowly increased as well. Murray’s weekly touches increased in every game from Week 4 through…

Fantasy Football: Week 12 Wide Receiver Matchup Report

Antonio Brown was the fantasy star of Week 11, posting a career-high 32.4 fantasy points in Pittsburgh’s victory against the Tennessee Titans. Brown became the first wide receiver to hit the 1,000-yard mark this season, and now trails DeAndre Hopkins by just 3.3 points for the lead as the overall WR1 on the season. Adam Thielen continues to be one of the best fantasy stories of 2017. Drafted in the middle rounds of most fantasy drafts as an upstart WR4, Thielen is the overall WR4 on the year after putting up his third…

Fantasy Football: Week 11 Running Back Matchup Report

The New Orleans Saints’ trio of Mark Ingram, Alvin Kamara, and Trey Edmunds became the first trio of running back teammates to each have at least 10 fantasy points in the same game since Week 3 of the 2016 season. Not to be outdone, the Carolina Panthers repeated the feat the very next night as Christian McCaffrey, Jonathan Stewart, and Cameron Artis-Payne all turned the trick against the Miami Dolphins. Ingram and Kamara are continuing their two-man assault on opposing NFL defenses. Both are top-three running backs in…

Fantasy Football: Week 11 Tight End Matchup Report

With the absence of two of the top three fantasy tight ends and three of the top four in receiving yardage, it’s not a surprise that tight end fantasy production left a little to be desired in Week 10. Vernon Davis was the only tight end to hit 75 yards, and only four tight ends had double-digit fantasy points. One of those four was Austin Hooper, who posted his second top-five finish in three weeks. Don’t look now, but Hooper is the overall TE7 on the year and has made a significant leap in his second season. Garrett Celek…

Fantasy Football: Week 10 Running Back Matchup Report

Todd Gurley’s sixth top-6 weekly finish has propelled him into the overall RB1 spot as we eclipse the halfway point in the season. He has proven that his 2016 campaign was the outlier in his brief career. The Saints’ Alvin Kamara led all fantasy running backs in Week 9 with 25.20 fantasy points. Kamara and teammate Mark Ingram are both top-3 fantasy running backs over the past four weeks, despite a combined four lost fumbles. Their recent dominance coincides with the trade of Adrian Peterson to Arizona. Peterson has been no…

Fantasy Football: Week 10 Tight End Matchup Report

There weren’t a lot of memorable performances by tight ends in Week 9. Only five tight ends hit double-digit fantasy points in Week 9. Travis Kelce finished as the overall TE2 for the week with 73 yards and a touchdown in Kansas City’s loss to Dallas. Kelce is now the top fantasy tight end this season, though Rob Gronkowski and Zach Ertz will have plenty to say about that before all is said and done. Ertz appeared as though he was going to suit up on Sunday for a great matchup against the Denver Broncos. Unfortunately, he…

Fantasy Football: Week 9 Running Back Matchup Report

The two big news stories coming out of Week 8 were the denial of Ezekiel Elliott’s request for an injunction and the trade of Jay Ajayi from the Miami Dolphins to the Philadelphia Eagles. Elliott will likely begin serving his six-game suspension beginning in Week 9, giving fantasy owners some tough decisions to make going forward. As of right now, Elliott is out until Week 15, which is Semifinal week in most fantasy leagues. It’ll be tougher to reach the semifinals without Elliott, who is tied with Todd Gurley for the…

Fantasy Football: Week 9 Tight End Matchup Report

There were not a ton of noteworthy fantasy performances by tight ends in Week 8. Then again, the New York Giants had a bye week. Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce earned the top spot in Week 8. He put up 19.3 fantasy points on Monday night, a feat arguably as impressive as going an entire game without being flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct. Kelce joins Rob Gronkowski and Zach Ertz as the top fantasy tight ends this season. The three are in a tier amongst themselves. They each have at least 500 yards and at least…

Fantasy Football: Week 8 Running Back Matchup Report

Ezekiel Elliott was the undisputed fantasy star of Week 7. Elliott led or tied for the NFL lead among running backs in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns in Week 7. His performance was the second-best of the season in terms of fantasy points, trailing only Kareem Hunt’s opening night heroics. Speaking of Hunt, for the first time this season, he is not the overall RB1 on the year. Todd Gurley has taken over that mantle behind another strong performance. Hunt did manage to eclipse 100…

Fantasy Football: Week 8 Tight End Matchup Report

Week 7 was a productive one for tight ends as a group. A whopping 16 tight ends, including Dallas' Jason Witten, who we've highlighted below, eclipsed 50 receiving yards, the most in a single week since Week 12 of the 2015 season. We probably will not see a repeat of that number in Week 8, primarily because Week 8 features a season-high six teams on a bye. One of those teams is the New York Giants, which immediately takes two elite tight end options off the board - Giants rookie Evan Engram and whoever the Giants’ opponent…
