Picks of the Week

Detroit Lions @ Pittsburgh Steelers

This screams a big week for Najee Harris to me. This Detroit defensive front is not great, allowing 134.5 yards per game, which ranks 29th in the league. The Steelers have surprised me a bit this season as I expected them to be a .500 team at best, but they have played quite well to this point, despite the fact that Ben Roethlisberger is a shell of his old self. Chase Claypool is unlikely to play, but this receiving group has plenty to work with in Diontae Johnson, James Washington, and Pat Freiermuth. However, I expect the Steelers to run the ball early and often on their way to a victory over the Lions on Sunday.

Carolina Panthers @ Arizona Cardinals

So this is an interesting one for sure. The Cardinals have been plagued by injuries over the past few weeks, but going into Week 10, this squad is looking like they are a lot healthier. On the flip side, the Panthers just lost Sam Darnold for multiple weeks with a shoulder injury. That means P.J. Walker will be at the helm, and although he showed great success in the XFL, this is a different league. I think in terms of fantasy value, Walker may even have a decent week because I expect Carolina to be playing from behind and thus throwing the ball a ton. However, this Panthers defense is good, but not good enough to contain Arizona in this game. I am taking the Cards here.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Denver Broncos

This one I am the least confident in of the three. However, we all know that Denver is a tough place to play in. Denver ranks 6th in the league in rushing yards allowed, while Philly ranks 20th. Not to mention, Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon III are far superior to Jordan Howard and Boston Scott. On the rest of the defensive front,  Denver is superior. I expect this to be a low scoring game, but Denver is the pick here considering the fact that they are at home against a team that is going to struggle to run the ball, which means that is it up to Jalen Hurts to beat them in the air, a scenario that I do not think is likely.

Matchup to Avoid

Minnesota Vikings @ Los Angeles Chargers

This is simply a case of a game that could go either way. These are two competitive teams and it will be a tough matchup on either side. Especially this late into the survival pool season, matchups like these are the ones that you want to avoid.
