Week 3 Fantasy Football High-Upside Bench Stashes: Weekend Waiver Wire

Hey there, fantasy football fanatics! We’re at that point in the week where waivers have been processed, and the scramble to set your lineups is in full swing. But hold on a second! Before you get lost in the shuffle, let’s talk about the magic of late-week waiver stashing.

Sure, snagging hot prospects during the early-week frenzy is exhilarating, but did you know you can make league-winning moves by picking up hidden gems late in the week, just before the games kick off?

In this column, we’re focusing on players who are currently rostered in less than 50% of Yahoo, ESPN, and Sleeper leagues. These are the under-the-radar heroes who often lurk in the shadows, waiting for their moment to shine. If you’re in a redraft or keeper league, the Weekend Waiver Stash is your go-to source for finding that needle in the haystack.

Why is late-week waiver stashing so crucial? Well, it’s all about having the foresight to identify players who could step into a significant role due to injury or other factors. Imagine already having that potential breakout star on your roster before they explode onto the scene – that’s the kind of edge that can carry you to fantasy championships.

So, don’t close the book on waivers this week. There are still players lightly rostered who could become key contributors to your championship run. Let’s unveil our top weekend waiver stashes.

Week 3 Weekend Waiver Wire

Quarterbacks

Baker Mayfield

But Mayfield has been decent at the very least so far this season. He has multiple touchdowns or over 300 yards in each of the first 2 games. 173 yards and 2 TDs in week 1. 317 yards and 1 TD in week 2. The Eagles are up next. The Eagles have been torched by the pass giving up 364 yards and 4 TDs in week 2 to Kirk Cousins and 316 yards and 3 TDs in week 1 to Mac Jones. Plug and play Baker Mayfield in week 3 if you just lost someone like Anthony Richardson or are struggling at the position.

Sam Howell

Howell has been responsible for 2 touchdowns each of the first two weeks of the season. 202 yards and one touchdown passing with another 11 yards and a touchdown rushing in week 1. And 299 yards and 2 TDs passing in week 2. The Bills and Eagles are up for the next two weeks and this guy will have to pass

Running Backs

Kendre Miller

Alvin Kamara is suspended for one more week, and Jamaal Williams is out with an injury. The rookie will most likely have a chance in week 3 to make some noise in the Saints backfield. Miller has been a full participant at practice and his competition for touches running the ball are Taysom Hill and Tony Jones Jr. Miller could be stepping into a role that becomes longer term.

Tyjae Spears

Spears has had 43% of the snap shares at running back for the Titans already. On Thursday Derrick Henry missed practice for rest and a toe injury. Henry did return to practice on Friday. Spears is being set up to have a slice of the run game all season for the Titans and if anything were to happen to Henry he would immediately become the number 1 waiver add for the week. Stash him.

Wide Receivers

Marvin Mims Jr.

Mims has only had 24% of the snaps at wide receiver for the Broncos in the first two weeks of the season. He has also only seen 4 targets on the season, 2 in each game. In week 1 that was 2 receptions for 9 yards, but in week 2 he had 2 receptions for 113 yards and a touchdown. He could become the deep ball threat the Broncos need. He is a nice stash ahead of this week’s matchup against the Dolphins

Tank Dell

In week 2 Tank had 10 targets which he made into 7 receptions, 72 yards, and a touchdown. The Texans are passing the ball. The Texans will continue to pass the ball. Dell is a nice add if you need some WRs depth right now. Dell is the secondary target on a Texans team that is throwing the ball 68% of the plays. He has seen 20% of the targets and has a 71% catch rate. He currently has 106 yards and a touchdown on the season. I would make him a high-priority stash if you need help at wide receiver.

Tight Ends

Zach Ertz

10 targets in week 1 followed that up with 8 targets in week 2. He has 6 receptions in each of the first two games. Currently the TE 9 in fantasy scoring. Ertz has 30% of the target share for the Cardinals, which is insane for a tight end not named Travis Kelce. He is PPR gold.

Taysom Hill

Jamaal Williams left the Saints game with a hamstring injury. Taysom Hill took over handling running duties and had 9 carries for 75 yards. He also had on pass completed for 8 yards. If they are using him as a running back and I can start him as a tight end sign me up. It appears it will be a committee with Tony Jones Jr and Kendre Miller. The one thing I know is Hill will be involved. Hard to pass on him if you need help at tight end this week. Let’s face it almost everyone needs help at tight end this season.
