Trend Tracking: Jorge Soler’s Focused Zone Paying Off

With more than a month now in the books, some early-season performances can start to become meaningful predictors for the rest of a player’s season. While we have not quite hit the stabilization point for most batted-ball statistics, trends are beginning to emerge which may be predictive of the player’s future results. Today, two former top prospects (Kansas City's Jorge Soler and Atlanta's Sean Newcomb) are enjoying strong starts to the season. Jorge Soler, OF, Kansas City Royals Coming off a miserable 2017 MLB…

Waiver Wire Report: Buehler, Buehler?

As the calendar flips over into May, Major League Baseball is getting infested with high-upside rookies, especially on the mound. But don't worry, this is a good infestation. A good infestation? Does such a thing exist? Not when it's insect-related, but when the infestation consists of top prospects like Walker Buehler, Gleyber Torres, and Ronald Acuna, I'd consider that a very good infestation. Buehler and Mike Soroka are the first big name pitching prospects to lock up long-term rotation spots, and they lead the way in…

Spring Training is here, which means it’s the best time of the year. Many of us compare this time to the days and weeks leading up to Christmas. Like keeping track of the big sales at Christmas, there is also a lot of news going on in Arizona and Florida. After his intersquad start on March 8, Diamondbacks pitcher Zack Greinke said he has a nagging…

Royal Sleeper Jorge Soler In The Making

2017 FANTASY BASEBALL SLEEPER I have a feeling that 25-year old righty swinging outfielder Jorge Soler is going to explode with the bat in 2017 for the Kansas City Royals.  Soler was signed as a free agent by the Chicago Cubs back on June 30th, 2012.  He played well in Rookie and A-ball in 2012 and 2013 for the Cubs, but 2014 was his breakout season. Soler played in 62 games in Rookie, AA and AAA ball in 2014 and he was 68 of 200 (.340 avg., 1.132 OPS) with 42 runs scored, 15 homers and 57 RBI.  The Cubs…
