MLB Injury Report

Gabriel Moreno – C Arizona Diamondbacks

Moreno had been dealing with this should inflammation for a while. He will miss at least ten days in order to get himself right, while Carson Kelly takes over the primary catcher’s spot.

A.J. Minter – RP Atlanta Braves

Minter’s first rehab game will take place tomorrow, and it looks like, if all goes well, he’ll be activated shortly afterward.

Max Fried – SP Atlanta Braves

There is no clear picture yet as to if this will be Fried’s final rehab appearance.

Trevor Story – 2B/SS Boston Red Sox

Story will now face tougher competition, as he will move to Triple-A Worcester. He has gone 2-for-8 thus far with one home run in Double-A Portland.

Nick Madrigal – 2B Chicago Cubs

This setback will likely delay his return to the Cubs, though it doesn’t sound too serious as of now.

Yoan Moncada – 3B Chicago White Sox

With Moncada coming back soon, it would appear that Jake Burger’s presence in the lineup is an absolute must.

Andrew Vaughn – 1B/OF Chicago White Sox

Vaughn has had a noticeable limp but is apparently ready to return to the team very soon. He has not played since July 18, and has avoided the Injured List in that time.

Charlie Blackmon – OF Colorado Rockies

Blackmon taking dry swings with two hands is the first real baseball activity that he has undertaken since being injured in the middle of June. There is no timetable for a return here, as he has quite a long way to go which likely includes a lengthy rehab appearance.

Kyle Freeland – SP Colorado Rockies

Be prepared.

Zach Neto – SS Los Angeles Angels

It looks like Neto should be back in the Angels’ lineup tomorrow and that his lower-back tightness isn’t overly concerning.

J.D. Martinez – UT Los Angeles Dodgers

Martinez might need an extra day off, but this looks to be nothing major. He should be ready to go on Tuesday.

Gavin Lux – 2B/OF Los Angeles Dodgers

Lux continues to make progress, though be reminded that he likely won’t be back until next season.

Noah Syndergaard – SP Los Angeles Dodgers

A tale of two games here, as Syndergaard looked dominant over his first five-plus innings of work. As stated here, he may not have been ready to lengthen out to six innings of work. Of his 77 pitches thrown, 58 of them were for strikes.

Jake Marisnick – OF Los Angeles Dodgers

It looks like the newly acquired Marisnick won’t be available to return until the middle of August.

Clayton Kershaw – SP Los Angeles Dodgers

The team will continue to take things cautiously slow with Kershaw, as he won’t pitch for a few more days.

Rowdy Tellez – 1B Milwaukee Brewers

Tellez is still weeks away from returning to the team.

Nestor Cortes – SP New York Yankees

Cortes threw 42 pitches and looked sharp for the most part. He will need at least two more rehab appearances where he is able to lengthen himself out before returning. He will also continue to work on his secondaries, which he admitted that all four were a focus yesterday. His next start is on Friday.

Aaron Judge – OF New York Yankees

From the sound of it, Judge still has a ways to go, but the team remains vague about his requiring a rehab appearance. He continues to take minuscule steps forward daily, but he’s at least progressing. There is still no timetable for a return, as the team has been very vague throughout this entire ordeal.

Gleyber Torres – 2B New York Yankees

It was originally believed that Torres left for a head injury, but this clarified that statement. As of this writing, there are no tests scheduled for him, but that doesn’t mean things won’t change.

Esteury Ruiz – OF Oakland Athletics

Ruiz needs to be built up, and the biggest way right now is his arm and his ability to throw. Without that, he won’t be able to return. His progress there is something to monitor as he hopefully gets closer to a return.

Lars Nootbar – OF St. Louis Cardinals

Consider Nootbar DTD while he manages this heel injury, which doesn’t seem overly serious at the moment.

Nolan Gorman – 2B St. Louis Cardinals

It looks like Gorman will need a couple of days to get himself right, with no indication that he will need a trip to the Injured List. Still, it’s something to monitor as back pains can fester.

Nathan Eovaldi – SP Texas Rangers

This move was apparently planned, so for now, let’s take it for what it is. Eovaldi is at 123.1 innings pitched, which is the fifth most innings of his career. He will likely surpass other years’ totals if he can remain in the rotation and healthy.

Danny Jansen – C Toronto Blue Jays

Consider Jansen DTD for now, as we wait to see how he heals over the next little while.

Hyun-Jin Ryu – SP Toronto Blue Jays

It remains to be seen how Ryu will be used as a pitcher for the Jays. It is interesting to note that the team does have seventeen games in seventeen days. Ryu could be a great way to give the regular rotation some additional rest.
