Fantrax MLB Injury Report: CJ Abrams Hurts His Back

Here is the Fantrax Injury Report for Saturday, August 12, 2023. In today’s edition, Ozzie Albies was pulled late in the Braves’ game on Sunday, but it doesn’t appear to be anything but minor cramping. Also, CJ Abrams needed to be pulled from the Nationals’ game as well, but his status is a little more in the air for now. Finally, it looks like Luis Robert will return on Tuesday, but, seeing as how they’re the White Sox, anything is possible.  All that and much more in today’s Injury Report from Fantrax.

MLB Injury Report

Ozzie Albies – 2B Atlanta Braves

Albies was slow to run out a ground ball late in the game and was replaced as a precaution. Consider him DTD with the possibility that he misses today’s game against the Yankees.

Luis Robert – OF Chicago White Sox

Robert has missed the past three games, but, from the sounds of it could be back on Tuesday.

Ben Lively – SP Cincinnati Reds

There was some speculation that Lively would return this week and pitch for the Reds. After this outing, it’s unclear if he will due to a lack of preparation, a lack of build-up, or because he’s been terrible. Either way, this performance seems notable.

Jurickson Profar – OF Colorado Rockies

Profar may need some time on the Injured List after this injury. He needed to be helped off the field and is having it examined. Stay tuned for more updates.

C.J. Cron – 1B Colorado Rockies

Cron has been dealing with back problems all season long with both the Rockies and the Angels. It’s unclear if this is the same injury that’s lingered over time or if this is something new. Either way, it’s something to monitor.

J.D. Martinez – UT Los Angeles Dodgers

Martinez did not pinch-hit, but, as Roberts said, it is hopeful he’s ready to go on Sunday. Martinez recently got an epidural and the hope is that will propel him back to the lineup. He also said that Martinez is on top of things and likely won’t go on the Injured List because he’s not in the field. The overall hope is that he’ll return on Tuesday and that the epidural would be the thing to help that.

Starling Marte – OF New York Mets

Marte has played in only two games since July 19, and likely won’t for at least another week. The overall feeling is that he won’t be rushed back, given that the Mets are not contending this season.

Carlos Rodon – SP New York Mets

Rodon has been trending upward since he landed on the Injured List. It’s looking more and more like he will be back with the team once he is eligible to return on August 22, but anything can happen between now and then.

DJ LeMahieu – INF New York Yankees

LeMahieu said that the injury started on Wednesday, but he appears to be all but past it and ready to return. Fingers crossed.

Mitch Haniger – OF San Francisco Giants

Haniger has missed the past two months after fracturing his forearm. This was after he missed the start of the season with an oblique injury. If he does in fact return, he could give the Giants a nice six-week push here. That said, he is nowhere near being a poster-child for health.

Matt Chapman – 3B Toronto Blue Jays

Chapman may need a day or two, but it’s good news that the severity doesn’t seem too bad. He may in fact be back on Tuesday.

CJ Abrams – INF Washington Nationals

Consider Abrams DTD with more updates to follow before their next game on Tuesday. The hope is that he can return then and continue his upward trajectory while being one of the game’s better infielders.
