MLB Injury Report

Corbin Carroll – OF Arizona Diamondbacks

It is being labeled as a contusion. While Carroll was in a lot of pain after this, and rightfully so, he was able to walk off the field independently. He is not scheduled for an MRI or imaging, and the team said that they dodged a bullet. Consider him DTD.

Brandon Hughes – RP Chicago Cubs, Jameson Taillon – SP Chicago Cubs

Uh oh. This is the same injury that cost Hughes the start of the season. With the ailment returning, he could be out for much longer to help ensure that it goes away. He was a candidate for saves and save opportunities, but now must worry about getting himself healthy. As for Taillon, this is a step in the right direction which should lead to a rehab assignment at some point. There is no timetable for his return just yet.

Andrew Benintendi – OF Chicago White Sox

For clarification, Fegan said in a second tweet that Benintendi got hit “in” the elbow and not “with” one. That said, he is DTD and could return later today against the Rays.

Kerry Carpenter – OF Detroit Tigers

Carpenter injured himself by taking away a home run from Ryan Mountcastle on Friday. He will miss at least ten days because of it, but you can’t get upset at the hustle.

Chas McCormick – OF Houston Astros, Michael Brantley – OF Houston Astros

This looks to be a little more extensive than we first thought, but at least the end is in sight. McCormick has played in one game thus far, so he’s likely a week away from returning. As for Brantley, gaining first-base eligibility would be an intriguing development for fantasy. There’s no word on if that will happen when he’s back with the Astros. That said, he needs to get his bat right first, as he’s scuffling so far in his rehab assignment.

Logan O’Hoppe – C Los Angeles Angels

While it’s possible that we see O’Hoppe back in September, the likelihood is that his 2023 season is over.

Kyle Farmer – INF Minnesota Twins

That would be a fantastic development, after getting hit in the mouth and needing emergency dental surgery. If he’s back at the beginning of May, it would be less than a month since the incident.

Aaron Judge – OF New York Yankees

The team will make a decision on Judge by Monday, so fantasy owners should expect news before lineups lock. That said, it seems likely that fantasy owners might need to be without Judge for the foreseeable future, given the nature of what Boone said and how he said it. He will need to improve from his current state in order to avoid that Injury List designation.

Brandon Crawford – SS San Francisco Giants

Consider Crawford DTD unless otherwise told.

Andres Munoz – Seattle Mariners

The team is being extra cautious with Munoz, who they value a lot for their bullpen. He was supposed to be on a rehab assignment, but that has since been delayed. The fact that he will embark on that assignment fairly soon is a good sign.

Julio Rodriguez – OF Seattle Mariners

The good news is that the team doesn’t seem to think it’s a serious injury. With the team having a day off tomorrow, a day off for Rodriguez is the likeliest of scenarios.

Tyler Glasnow – SP Tampa Bay Rays

Glasnow is progressing nicely here and seems on track to return in mid-May, as projected. That said, he will likely need a rehab assignment to help ramp himself up since he’s been out for quite a while.

Jacob deGrom – SP Texas Rangers

deGrom came into Saturday feeling okay, but the team will be extra cautious with him. Since his history is littered with injuries, the Rangers want to be as careful as they can with their ace. They’re going to see how he feels over the next few days and develop a plan from there. The good news is that there is no structural damage in the elbow, so rest is what’s needed most. The guess would be that he is gone for more than fifteen days, but that he can return shortly afterward. Stay tuned though, as nothing is set in stone.
