Fantasy Hockey Week 19 Waiver-Wire Defensemen

The 2023-24 season is flying by, as we are now in Week 19 of the campaign. As a result of this, fantasy hockey managers have a better grasp of which waiver-wire defensemen are worth adding. This week offers some strong options with waiver-wire defensemen, but here are your three top choices.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Defensemen to Consider for Week 19

Torey Krug, St. Louis Blues

Torey Krug is one of the hottest defensemen in the NHL right now. On Feb. 11 against the Montreal Canadiens, he put together a dominant five-assist night. He hasn’t slowed down, either, as he also had a goal and an assist against the Edmonton Oilers on Feb. 15. Because of this, he has an outstanding seven points over his last three games. He is feeling it right now, and he’s a player to scoop up as a waiver-wire addition immediately.

Krug is having a strong bounce-back season in general, too. In 53 games, he has two goals to go along with 27 points. Yet, when looking at how excellently he is playing lately, his numbers should continue to improve from here. As a result, he is easily the top waiver-wire defenseman to bring in this week.

Jonas Brodin, Minnesota Wild

Another waiver-wire defenseman whom fantasy hockey managers should be adding right now is Jonas Brodin. The 30-year-old is having a strong 2023-24 season, as he has three goals, 16 points, and a plus-12 rating in 35 games. He already has more points than he did last season (14 points in 60 games), and he’s on pace to have one of his best offensive seasons ever. However, what’s more encouraging is that his play has been improving as of late.

Brodin’s been flexing his offensive muscles more, posting two goals and two assists over his last four games. For a defensive defenseman, seeing this kind of offense is impressive, and he is not cooling off in the process. With that, he is continuing to be extremely dependable defensively, so he is a clear waiver-wire addition to make in Week 19.

Rasmus Sandin, Washington Capitals

While the Washington Capitals have been struggling, Rasmus Sandin has not in the slightest. The 23-year-old is starting to pick it up offensively, as he has four points over his last six games and seven in his last 10. This is certainly encouraging to see from the youngster, as he is starting to break out from his cold start to the year. Because of this, he’s a waiver-wire defenseman to take a chance on this week.

Sandin showed last season following his move to the Capitals that he can produce well from the point. In 19 games after being dealt to DC, he had three goals and 15 points. He is starting to show signs of getting back to that form with his recent play. Because of this, if he’s still available in your league, pick him up as a waiver-wire addition.

Nevertheless, Week 19 offers some excellent waiver-wire defensemen to choose from. Krug, Brodin, and Sandin are all playing quite well, and it will be fun to see if they can keep it up from here.
