Fantasy Hockey Week 16 Waiver-Wire Goalies

The waiver wire is a great way to add hidden gems and overlooked players to your fantasy hockey club. This remains true whether you plan to have them as short-term or long-term parts of your fantasy hockey roster. Now that we are three months into the season, we better understand which waiver-wire goalies are worth snagging. As a result, here are three waiver-wire goalies worth adding to your roster in Week 16.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Goalies to Consider for Week 16

Joonas Korpisalo, Ottawa Senators

One waiver-wire goaltender who warrants some consideration in Week 16 is Joonas Korpisalo. While he has had a tough first season with the Ottawa Senators, his play has been improving as of late. In his last start against the Winnipeg Jets, he saved 27 out of 29 shots. With that, he also stopped 21 out of 23 shots against the Montreal Canadiens on Jan. 18. He is once again looking like a starting goalie, and fantasy managers should keep an eye on him because of it.

While Korpisalo has a tough .887 SV% on the season, he is showing signs of bouncing back. He absolutely has the potential to, as he was excellent for the Columbus Blue Jackets and Los Angeles Kings just last season. In 39 games split between the two clubs, he had a .914 SV%. As a result of this and his strong recent play, he’s a waiver-wire addition to consider.

Jake Allen, Montreal Canadiens

After a hot start to the season, Canadiens goalie Jake Allen cooled off noticeably. However, he appears to be turning a corner once again when looking at his recent appearances. He had an excellent 32-save performance against the Colorado Avalanche on Jan. 15 and at least a .914 SV% in three out of his last five stats. Due to this, he is another waiver-wire goalie to consider this week.

When playing at his best, Allen is a legitimate starter, and he is starting to look one again lately. Once he gets going, he does a good job of building on his momentum, so more strong starts should be on the way for him. Because of this, he’s another waiver-wire addition to take a chance on in Week 16.

Darcy Kuemper, Washington Capitals

The 2023-24 season has been a tough one for Darcy Kuemper. In 23 games with the Washington Capitals, he has a 3.13 GAA and a .895 SV%. His numbers are normally far better than this, and he has become a less popular player in fantasy hockey because of it. Yet, he has started to bounce back lately, and he deserves consideration as a waiver-wire addition this week.

Kuemper just had a spectacular 24-save shutout against the Anaheim Ducks on Jan. 16. With that, he also saved 38 out of 41 shots against the Kings on Jan. 7. He is heating up again and because of this, fantasy managers should be snagging him as a waiver-wire pickup if still available.

Overall, Week 16 offers some strong waiver-wire goalie options. We will need to wait and see if Korpisalo, Allen, and Kuemper can continue to keep up their solid play from here.
