Weekend Waiver Wire for NFL Week 16

If you are reading this odds are you are still in the fantasy football playoffs. Congratulations! There are some players here that will be useful if you find yourself in unexpected needs at any position.

I hope this helps you all have a very Merry Christmas!

This column refers to players rostered in under 50% of Yahoo, ESPN, and Sleeper Leagues.

Week 16 Weekend Waiver Wire

Quarterbacks

Joe Flacco, Cleveland Browns

In the 3 weeks Since taking over the starting role for the Browns Joe Flacco has passed for over 250 yards and multiple touchdowns in each game. In 2 of the games he has over 300 yards and multiple touchdowns. He has passed the ball 133 times over this 3 games stretch. Never less than 44 attempts in a game. The Browns are playing for something in Week 16 against a Texans team that is also playing for something as both teams make playoff pushes. This is what you want in the Fantasy Playoffs.

Jake Browning

Browning has passed for multiple touchdowns and or over 300 yards in the past 3 games as well. He gets the Vikings in Week 16 who you can throw the ball against. The Bengals play the Steelers in Week 16 who have given up 3 touchdowns in each of the past two games to luminaries like Bailey Zappe (Week 14) and Gardiner Minshew (Week 15). Yes, that was sarcasm. Plug and play him in Week 16.

Other quarterbacks to consider if you are desperate:

  • Nick Mullens – Mullens is only 11% rostered on Yahoo. He passed for 303 yards and 2 touchdowns in Week 15. I have him as a Money Maker this week.
  • Tommy DeVito – If you are really desperate Tommy is available everywhere. He is only rostered 7% on Yahoo. HE is playing against the Eagles. Every one passes on the Eagles.

Running Backs

Chase Brown, Cincinnati Bengals

Brown has had at least 10 touches in each of the last two games. He has caught 3 receptions in each of those games. If you are playing PPR I would add him. Ja’Marr Chase will be out, and the Bengals need playmakers to make plays. Brown is a playmaker. Expect him to be involved for the next 2 weeks for the Bengals.

Tyjae Spears, Tennessee Titans

In the past three weeks, Spears has not scored less than 8 fantasy points. Derrick Henry was really bad as he averaged a half of yard per touch in Week 15. The Seahawks who give up the 5th most fantasy points to opposing teams running backs are up in Week 16.

Other running backs to consider if you are desperate:

  • Trey Sermon – 2% rostered on Yahoo.  If Taylor is not back in the lineup for Week 16 Sermon is the Indy RB to roster..
  • Jordan Mason, Kenneth Gainwell, and other direct backups make nice additions just in case if you are still playing in the fantasy playoffs.

Wide Receivers

Noah Brown, Houston Texans

As the last man standing at wide receiver for the Texans in Week 15 Brown had 8 receptions, 82 yards and a touchdown. Even if Nico Collins is back in the lineup Brown will get some run. The only issue is the Browns are up next and they are the second toughest teams against wide receivers.

47% rostered on Yahoo
42% on ESPN
53% on Sleeper

Curtis Samuel, Washington Commanders

Samuel produced pretty much as I expected he would in Week 15. 5 catches, 41 yards and 2 touchdowns. If you are needy at wide receiver I would make this add. The Commanders will throw the ball even against the tough Jets defense in Week 16.

Other wide receivers to consider:

  • Joshua Palmer – 4 receptions, 113 yards, and a touchdown with a nobody passing him the ball. He is only 45% rostered on Yahoo.
  • Dontayvion Wicks – 7 targets, 9 receptions, and 97 yards in Week 15 got him listed here. Injuries to the Packers wide receivers make him a nice plug-and-play in Week 16. He is only 9% rostered on Yahoo.

Tight Ends

Hunter Henry, New England Patriots

Henry is probably one of the best route runners on the Patriots. With Bailey Zappe at the helm, Henry has 3 touchdowns in the past 2 games. The Denver Broncos are up in Week 16. Denver gives up the most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Stream the dream with Henry.

Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers

Tucker had 4 targets in Week 14 which he turned in 4 receptions and 64 yards. He followed this up in Week 15 with 4 receptions 57 yards and a touchdown. The Packers will play the Panthers in Week 16 and he will be involved.
