Week 2 NFL DFS Picks for DraftKings

The hope is that everyone had a profitable Week 1 of NFL DFS. Regardless, that is now in the past and we have a new week of action in front of us. My intention is to help you make Week 2 of NFL DFS a week to remember as you finish in the green. With that being said, let us jump right into my top Week 2 NFL DFS picks.

Each week, I will take a look at one option at each position that can be a nice piece in your lineup. Additionally, I will provide one stud and one value option to target along with one expected bust.

NFL Week 2 DFS Picks

Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers, $5,500

Jordan Love got off to a strong start to the season on Sunday in a blowout victory over Chicago. Playing without his number one receiver in Christian Watson, Love still threw for three touchdown passes out of his 15 completions. Two of those touchdowns went to Romeo Doubs who should play a large role for Green Bay all season. With Watson likely to miss another week, that chemistry is certainly a plus.

While he only carried the ball three times for 12 yards, Love can make an impact on the ground as well. That provides a ton of weekly upside which makes Love one of my DFS picks.

The Green Bay quarterback shouldn’t have an issue with Atlanta, and at this price point, Love is helpful in all lineup builds.

Running Back

Breece Hall, New York Jets, $5,900

In what should be the least surprising news, the Jets will be leaning on the run game going forward. The fact that Breece Hall is limited in practice this week is not something to read into as New York will be careful with the second-year running back.

From an explosiveness perspective, Hall did a great job of answering any and all questions. He carried the ball 12 times for 127 yards but also included an 83-yard run. Hall also caught one of his two targets for 20 yards. Granted the opposition will be expecting the Jets to run the ball, but New York will also be creative in putting Hall in a position to succeed.

While Hall will be sharing the workload with Dalvin Cook, there are still enough touches to work with. I feel like Hall is still priced too conservatively, and that puts him on my radar for DFS picks at the running back position.

Wide Receiver

Brandon Aiyuk, San Francisco 49ers, $5,800

Why not just go right back to it? If Brandon Aiyuk’s price is still going to remain at this level, then he will continue to be one of my DFS picks.

After catching all eight of his targets for 129 yards and two touchdowns, Aiyuk is back at it again this week against the Rams. Last week, Los Angeles looked dominant against the Seahawks, but the thought process is that this was more about Seattle being bad. The Rams do have a solid defense, but based on the 49ers were able to move to begin the season, Aiyuk shouldn’t have any issues.

It is clear that Aiyuk and Brock Purdy have developed a connection. Get Aiyuk while you can at this price.

Tight End

Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars, $4,800

The Jaguars are going to be busy offensively this week against the Chiefs, and Evan Engram should be a big part of that. To begin the season, Engram caught all five of his targets for 49 yards. This comes after Jacksonville committed to the tight end with a lucrative contract extension.

Kansas City’s offense figures to be motivated to avenge their Week 1 loss and that means Trevor Lawrence will have to keep up with Patrick Mahomes. Targeting Engram figures to be a large part of that as he should have plenty of room to work with. It figures to be a good matchup for him from a positional standpoint as well.

Detroit Lions, $3,000

After limiting the Chiefs to 20 points in Week 1, the Lions have their home opener this week. There is a nice step down for Detroit as they go from Patrick Mahomes to Geno Smith.

Smith looked lost against the Rams as he truly struggled to generate any offense. While we can’t expect a touchdown every week, Detroit did find the end zone in Week 1. They did generate an interception while limiting Mahomes’ production. After Smith threw for just 112 yards against the Rams, Detroit figures to have success.

DFS Stud

Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions, $7,800

After Puka Nacua and Tutu Atwell went to town against the Seahawks, what will Amon-Ra St. Brown do? For starters, I would expect to be better than his ho-hum debut to the season. St. Brown has done such a good job of raising the bar as of late, that catching eight passes for 71 yards and a touchdown does not move the needle as much as it otherwise should. With that being said, this is a great match for St. Brown. It also helps that the price is not overly taxing on lineup construction.

DFS Value

Joshua Kelley, Los Angeles Chargers, $5,000

With Austin Ekeler nursing an ankle injury, and not practicing Wednesday or Thursday, our attention is piqued. Last week when the Chargers were being cautious with Ekeler, Joshua Kelley carried the ball 16 times for 91 yards and a touchdown. If Ekeler continues on his path and is out this Sunday, Kelley figures to be busy. The good news is that we don’t have to wonder who the next man up is for the Chargers as they already showed us that it is Kelley.

DFS Bust

Ja’Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals, $7,900

This will likely change quickly, but for now, I am steering clear of Ja’Marr Chase. Joe Burrow simply did not look right to begin the season as the Bengals never had a chance against the Browns. Chase was impacted by that catching just five of nine targets for 39 yards. This week does not figure to get any easier for Baltimore as they will be forced to deal with a tough Baltimore defense. Let’s wait a week for Burrow to find his groove before spending up for Chase.
