Week 14 NFL DFS: Money Makers and Heart Breakers

If you are playing season-long fantasy football and still reading me, you probably made the playoffs. Congratulations! If you didn’t make the playoffs remember you can play DFS all through the regular season and into the playoffs.

I want to thank everyone who has ever read Money Makers and Heart Breakers for reading through this season. I am really under the weather this week with Covid and it was a chore to get this out there.

Good luck and have a great weekend!

Week 14 NFL DFS Picks

Let’s move right into Money Makers and Heart Breakers for the Week 14 NFL DFS Main Slate. And don’t forget, you can also use these insights as sit/start advice for your weekly lineups.

Here is a brief definition of each of my terms for anyone that might be new:

💰 Money Maker – This player will perform better than expectations

💔 Heart Breaker – This player will perform lower than expectations

💰 Money Makers

Quarterbacks

Russell Wilson – In three of the last four games Wilson has multiple touchdowns. He has been doing it with his legs as well as through the air. During this time the Broncos also look like a good football team. In Week 14 Wilson gets to play against the Chargers who give up the fifth most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. This is the easiest match-up Wilson has seen since Week 4 against the Bears. He had 2 touchdowns in that game. Mr. Unlimit… no I can’t spew that crap here. But anyway, he should be good in Week 14.

Justin Fields – The Bears play the Lions at home in Week 14. The Lions give up the fourth most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. In Week 11 these two teams played each other and Fields threw for 169 yards and a touchdown and ran for 104 yards. He should have another 20-point fantasy point game against the Lions in Week 14. Justin will run all over the Fields (yes I have used this one before)

$7,900 on FanDuel

Jared Goff – IF you didn’t like Fields against the Lions maybe you’ll like Goff against the Bears? The Bears give up the 8th most fantasy points to opposing teams’ quarterbacks. In Week 11 Goff passed for 213 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Bears. Goff has passed for over 300 yards twice over the past 4 games and has multiple touchdowns in every one of those games. The Lions are good and have something to play for.

Running Backs

Austin Ekeler – As much as I love the match-up, I am leery about recommending Ekeler here. But it’s the Broncos and they give up the most fantasy points to opposing running backs. The Broncos defense has been better as of late so this might be just a double-digit fantasy point game and not an explosion. His targets could increase this week in the plus match-up. Running backs do average 7 targets, 6 receptions, and 40 yards per game against the Broncos. Get-right game here or I am out for the rest of the season on Ekeler.

Alvin Kamara – The Saints play the Panthers in Week 14. The Panthers give up the second most fantasy points to running backs. Running backs average 110 yards and a touchdown rushing and 4 receptions for 24 yards receiving against the Panthers. Kamara has been amazing this season. Kamara is utilized heavily in the passing game as well as the run game. This looks like an epic explosion game for Kamara in Week 14.

$9,000 on FanDuel

Joe Mixon – I am almost never a Mixon guy. But since the Bengals Week 7 bye week, Mixon has touchdowns in all but one game. He is performing at an exceptionally high level right now. Mixon is the RB8 on the season. This week he gets to play a Colts defense which is giving up the fourth most fantasy points to opposing teams running backs. Running backs average 106 yards and a touchdown rushing against the Colts weekly. Joe will be mixing into my lineups.

Wide Receivers

Courtland Sutton – Sutton has a 23% target share and a 39% share of the air yards for the Broncos. He also has 9 touchdowns on the season. Meanwhile, the Chargers give up 180 yards and a touchdown weekly to wide receivers. You can pick up what I am putting down here right? Sutton is a great play this week. Look for him to get touchdown number 10 in Week 14.

Elijah Moore – If Amaris Cooper is playing, please switch this to his name. The Jaguars give up the seventh most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. Against the Rams in Week 13, Moore saw 12 targets, which he turned into 4 receptions and 83 yards.  That was a 27% target share in Week 13. You can expect that amount of volume in Week 14 if Cooper is out.

$6,200 on FanDuel

Deebo Samuel – Might feel like chasing points after Deebo’s 3 touchdown performance in Week 13 but it isn’t. The Seahawks give up the eighth-most fantasy points to wide receivers. In Week 12 The Niners played the Seahawks and Deebo had 7 receptions for 79 yards receiving and another 15 yards and a touchdown rushing. I will gladly plug him in anywhere this week. You may want to plug in Aiyuk somewhere as well.

Tight Ends

Gerald Everett – In the past two games, Everett has seen an uptick in targets. He has 9 targets over those two games. Everett has turned that into 8 receptions, 87 yards, and a touchdown. The Broncos are up in Week 14. The Broncos give up the most points to opposing tight ends. Tight ends average 6 receptions and 71 yards receiving against the Broncos. With all the missing wide receivers for the Chargers, it’s a good time to take a chance on Everett.

$3,400 on DraftKings
$5,100 on FanDuel

Sam LaPorta – LaPorta is second on the Lions in target share with a 21% target share. He is also second on the team in air yards share with 22% of the air yards. The Lions are playing in Chicago this week and the game feels like it will be more on the over side to me. In season-long LaPorta is the TE3 on the season, I can’t find a single reason not to play him in Week 14.

$6,100 on DraftKings
$7,200 on FanDuel

Tyler Conklin – If you want a lower-cost player at tight end that has some sort of a floor and ceiling. Conklin is probably your guy. In Week 13 he saw 9 targets. He only had 3 receptions and 35 yards but the volume was there. This week the Jets will play against the Texans who give up the fifth most fantasy points to opposing teams’ tight ends. Looks like a solid floor play in Week 14.

Defense

Texans – In the last three weeks defenses have scored an average of 19.67 fantasy points against the Jets. On The Season the Jets give up the second most fantasy points to opposing defenses but are making a push to give up the most right now. In the past 4 weeks, the Texans have scored 8 or more fantasy points in 3 out of the 4 weeks. They will get you double-digit fantasy points in Week 14.

$4,000 on DraftKings
$4,800 on FanDuel

Saints – The Saints will play the Panthers in Week 14. Since the Panthers Week 7 bye week not a single defense has scored less than 7 fantasy points against the Panthers. The Saints have 19 sacks and 14 interceptions on the season. Defenses average 4 sacks and an interception each game against the Panthers. The Saints will come marching in on Week 14.

$3,900 on DraftKings
$4,300 on FanDuel

Vikings – The Vikings are going up against the Raiders in Week 14. The Raiders give up the eighth most fantasy points to opposing defenses. The Vikings have a top 10 fantasy defense. They have 32 sacks, 9 interceptions, and 7 fumble recoveries on the season. Look for them to go after Aiden O’Connell and cause him to throw some picks in Week 14.

💔Heart Breakers

Quarter Backs

Trevor Lawrence – The Jaguars are playing the Browns in Week 14. Two weeks in a row I placed the quarterback playing against the Browns as a Heart Breaker. This makes three. The last two had excellent games, which was a surprise as the Browns defense has been great against the pass all season. Lawrence dinged up is someone I would avoid. If he is out I want to play the Browns defense and not the replacement quarterback in fantasy.

Jameis Winston – It looks like Winston is back in at quarterback for the Saints. I usually love him in Fantasy as he will sling it. But the Saints wide receiver room is like an emergency room full of injuries. To top it all off the Saints are playing the Panthers in Week 14. The Panthers’ defense is good against the pass and really, really bad against the run. The Saints run all over the Panthers in Week 14 and Winston manages the games to a mediocre performance.

Geno Smith – The Seahawks offensive line is looking good lately and that is great news for Geno. What is bad news for Geno is the Niners give up the fourth fewest points to opposing quarterbacks. In Week 12 the two teams played and Geno managed 180 yards passing and another 21 yards rushing. Not even fantasy points. Yuck, I would avoid at all costs.

Running Backs

Rachaad White – White will most likely produce based on sheer volume in Week 14. I say that because it won’t be easy. The Buccaneers are playing the Falcons who have the second toughest defense against running backs. These two teams met in Week 7 and White managed a total of 99 yards. You can probably expect something similar to that with the volume he gets.

Zach Charbonnet – Let’s start with the fact that the Seahawks are playing the Niners and the Niners give up the third-fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs. Zach only managed 58 total yards against this same Niners team in Week 12. To top it all off Charbonnet has missed practice much of the week with an injury. He is an easy pass in Week 14.

Josh Jacobs – The Raiders offense is meh, at best. I feel for Jacobs. This week the Raiders get to play the Vikings who give up the fifth-fewest fantasy points to opposing teams running backs. The way for running backs to get fantasy points against the Vikings’ defense is through the pass. I can see receptions saving the day for Jacobs. I would sit him in DFS and play him in season-long.

Wide Receivers

Nico Collins – Nico Collins exploded in Week 13. What an amazing game he had once he became the focal point of the Houston passing game. That was great but this is Week 14. In Week 4 the Texans play the Jets. The Jets are the toughest team on wide receivers. He is another player I would be playing in season-long but sitting in DFS. He could have a boom game against the Jets as the Dolphins tore the Jets apart recently or he could end up with a horrible game.

Puka Nacua – My favorite rookie this season is a toss-up between Tank Dell and Puka Nacua. They both performed great this season and have awesome names. I am passing Nacua in Week 14 because of the Ravens’ defense against wide receivers. This is a pass in DFS play. Nacua torched the Browns in Week 133 who are also great against wide receivers so I see he may just do it again, but I will not bet on it.

Calvin Ridley – The Jaguars play the Browns in Week 14. The Browns are the third-stingiest team when it comes to giving up fantasy points to wide receivers. Christian Kirk is out. Which means more focus can be put on Ridley. Trevor Lawrence is either going to be out or playing through an injury. I do not love the chances of Ridley producing big against all these things.

Tight Ends

Evan Engram – I have a trend going when it comes to the Jaguars passing game. It’s both because Trevor Lawrence is dinged up and the Browns defense is good. The Browns have allowed the least amount of fantasy points to tight ends on the season. I do not like Engram here or there, I do not like him anywhere, I do not like Evan Engram, I do not like him Sam I Am.

Dalton Kincaid – Kincaid has all kinds of people excited because he is the second option in the Bills passing game. But this week the Bills play the Chiefs. The Chief’s defense has only given up 3 touchdowns to tight ends. Only one tight end has scored double-digit fantasy points against this defense.

NOTE: Tight end has been a tough spot to find success in 2023. There are so many easy players to call out as not producing here that I check myself at 2 because I could write about 15 with ease every week.
