Week 10 Fantasy Football FAAB Guide

Welcome to the Week 10 Fantasy Football FAAB Guide. Every week I provide you with detailed coverage of all the NFL players you might be courting for your fantasy football squad. More importantly, I guide you on how much to spend on each player. You will find obvious player opinions such as Patrick Mahomes will turn it around this season, but I will also give you useful, less-heralded takes like DeSean Jackson will thrive as the classic, quintessential deep-play WR in the Raiders offense. If you need Waiver Wire adds only, check out my Fantrax pal Colin McTamany’s Waiver Wire Rankings here

What!? Your league isn’t hosted on Fantrax!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune next season.

Week 10 Fantasy Football FAAB Guide

$1,000 is a common budget size for season-long leagues and that is the template for my FAAB bid percentages. The Week 10 Fantasy Football FAAB Guide attempts to cover all styles of fantasy scoring, but I write this article from a redraft and PPR point of view. All roster percentages for this week come from Fantrax and ESPN fantasy football leagues.

WEEK 10 BYES: CHICAGO, CINCINNATI, HOUSTON, NEW YORK GIANTS

Reference Points

  • You’re likely not in desperate need of a bye week QB this week beyond Joe Burrow. Big Ben is the safest bye week replacement this week against my bozo Lions.
  • I’m still jazzed about Taysom Hill reclaiming the QB job in New Orleans. Trevor Siemian was lifeless for the majority of the loss Sunday at home against the Falcons. Hill’s concussion that he recently came back from is a serious concern. It’s serious for anyone who suffers one, but specifically for Hill because he is a running QB that leaves himself open to riskier hits. Hill only completed 2 of 2 attempts which were supposedly scripted but came in the 4th quarter. If New Orleans is going to make a playoff run with their stout defense, Taysom Hill has the highest ceiling possible to make that a reality.
  • The Dolphins had Tua Tagovailoa active on Sunday as the emergency QB in preparation for the upcoming Thursday night affair against Baltimore. I like this matchup a lot for Tua. Baltimore is one of the worst tackling teams in football. Their defensive showing against Cincinnati a couple of weeks ago looks even worse now and it’s a short week after an OT win against Minnesota. Tua is an ideal QB streamer this week.
  • He’s been on this list nearly every week I’ve written it, but Teddy Bridgewater continues to be underrated. The win Sunday over Dallas is the latest piece of evidence. With Jerry Jeudy returning, Teddy Two Gloves has legit offensive playmakers at RB, WR, and TE. I think his best is yet to come in 2021. Go get him!

RB ADDS

Reference Points

  • Jordan Howard has the highest monetary ranges this week, but that doesn’t meant he’s my favorite. I want to make it clear that these ranges are what I would consider spending if I needed the player. It’s not exactly the range that will win you the bid though. Howard has Miles Sanders returning soon along with Boston Scott and Kenneth Gainwell in the mix. Spending more than 10% of your FAAB on Howard just isn’t good business in my mind, unless it’s panic time.
  • The mysterious Rhamondre Stevenson looked electric on Sunday against the Panthers. He hasn’t looked this electric since his 91-yard TD run in the preseason that fired up his 2021 hype train. He and backfield mate Damien Harris both left the game late with injuries. Monitor the injury situation for this week’s crucial AFC showdown against Cleveland. I don’t like him for that matchup but ROS he could be a playoff winner down the stretch if Harris can’t stay on the field.

  • Speaking of the Browns, D’Ernest Johnson still has another week to provide fantasy points. Kareem Hunt is supposed to come off IR this week, but he may need another week to be ready. If you’re looking for a one-week bye replacement, you could do worse. Plus Hunt and Chubb could get injured again.
  • If you see Trey Sermon on this list and you immediately want to post about how stupid I am in the comments below, I understand. Hell, I wouldn’t blame you at all. What reason do we have to bid in Sermon right now? Why should we waste precious FAAB bucks as the playoffs draw ever near? I’ll give you two words: KYLE SHANAHAN. The litany of RB Duck-Duck-Goose situations Shanahan has played means it’s at least worth taking a flier on Sermon now while he is cheap. You’ve already wasted money on more ludicrous moves this season I’m sure. Plus the 49ers are getting desperate and Elijah Mitchell seems banged up. Go for it!
  • Lastly, consider Jaret Patterson as another stretch run replacement for an injured RB on a desperate team. Antonio Gibson needs time to heal still.

WR ADDS

Amon-Ra St. Brown55%9%1-3%@PIT

Reference Points

  • I mentioned earlier that Jerry Jeudy is back, but that hasn’t stopped Tim Patrick from providing legit fantasy production. His 25% rostership on ESPN is absurd.
  • Everybody and their mother (what about the fathers?) will be overpaying for Elijah Moore this week. If you want to join them please don’t let me get in your way. Just consider that Corey Davis is returning this Sunday against the Bills. When you also throw in Jamison Crowder and Keelan Cole Jr. whoever plays QB for the Jets is suddenly left with a plethora of options. Moore is talented, but his 2 TDs last week are more appealing than his current reality in Week 10.
  • Antonio Brown is going to be out for a while longer as he is still in a walking boot. That means Tyler Johnson is in full control of his WR opportunity. Johnson is also very talented. He has one thing though that most wideouts do not have: the trust of the one Tom Brady. Before the bye he had 5 grabs for 65 yards in the Big Easy on 6 targets. I watched Johnson play a fair amount in college at Minnesota. He might be as good as his former teammate Rashod Bateman.
  • The Falcons’ stunning win over the Saints in Week 10 would not have happened without Russell Gage or Olamide Zaccheaus making plays at WR. Gage had more targets, but Zaccheaus had more TDs. As long as Calvin Ridley is working on his well-being, both of these dudes are viable options for your fantasy squad. I am FURIOUS at myself for not recommending Zaccheaus when Ridely stepped away. I got caught up in the Gage hype from others. Yep, even I am not immune to such pressures. I learned a valuable lesson though and now I am getting back to my roots. If you’re going to get it wrong, get it wrong with your guy.

TE ADDS

Ryan Griffin2%0%1-3%BUF
Adam Trautman37%2%1-3%@TEN
Tommy Tremble17%1%1-3%@ARI

Reference Points

  • 2 TDs for Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth on Monday night means my love for this man is becoming stamped and approved. It will only get better from here!

  • The Titans are looking for winners on their active roster. One of them ringing the bell right now is Geoff SwaimAnthony Firkser is no more in Nashville.
  • I don’t need to tell you this, but TE is hell on Earth fantasy-wise. Beyond Kittle, Waller, and Kelce in Week 9, no other TE was a fantasy force. It’s been the norm all year. So when Dan Arnold goes for 60 yards on 4 catches against a stellar Buffalo defense, we all have to perk up with interest. His 10 targets in Week 8 offer the notion that when a position is so devoid of playmakers, you have to spend a chunk of FAAB on Dan Arnold because consistency at TE is as scarce as Crystal Pepsi.
  • Bronco’s TE Albert Okwuegbunam is as talented and capable as Noah Fant. I would not be surprised if Okwuegbunam outperformed Fant in total fantasy production by season’s end. He has received 15% of the total Red Zone attempts by a Broncos QB this season despite being out-snapped 435-208 by Fant.

The Leftovers

  • Week 9 still leaves us with more questions to ponder. Is Aaron Rodgers really this egomaniacal or is he taking us all on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride? Do the Ravens have the best passing attack in the NFL this season? Will Khalil Herbert still find room to maneuver now that David Montgomery has returned from IR? The mysteries of this season will continue to baffle us.
  • The following players with uncertain roles are all worth mentioning, just in smaller doses. David Johnson didn’t get traded at the deadline, but Phillip Lindsay appears to be the main RB in H-Town for now. The Chargers ran a boatload of 3 TE formations Sunday in Philly. Some dude name Stephen Anderson had a career day, but it was Donald Parham Jr. quietly scoring another TD with the same output as Anderson. Jared Cook still holds court at TE for the Chargers, but Parham has sneaky value. This Dolphin fella Mack Hollins has two scores in three weeks with 10 targets in those three games. Sure Jordan Love looked bogus on Sunday as a part of Aaron Rodgers’ diabolical plan, but if he gets to start gain on Sunday at home against Seattle, he is worthy of start consideration in Superflex or 2 QB leagues at least due to the state of the Seattle defense right now. That means fellow Leftovers list mate Randall Cobb is in line for low-priced DFS points this Sunday no matter who plays QB. Kenny Stills was shut out against Seattle and Tampa, but he scored a TD against Atlanta on 5 targets. Stills is getting more comfortable out there which means you might be able to capitalize on the cheap. Cardinals RB Eno Benjamin starred at Arizona State in college and now he is one injury away from the head seat at the RB table in a high-powered offense. You could do worse.
