This article offers DFS picks and insights on who should take the coveted captain slot, which core player should anchor your player pool, a value gem that can boost your salary cap flexibility, a sleeper pick with breakout potential, and one player to steer clear of – the dreaded bust. Get ready for a wild DFS MNF showdown.

MNF DFS Picks for DraftKings

*Disclaimer: These picks have been constructed with the mindset of building a single lineup. When building large field/multi-entry tournaments, if the player sees the field you’ll want to have a piece of him somewhere, my “busts” included.

Captain

D’Andre Swift

DraftKings Captain Salary- $12,000

This is getting old. Whilst I am writing this article late Sunday night, both team’s starting quarterbacks are listed as questionable. Jalen Hurts is battling a non-covid illness, while Geno Smith is still nursing a groin injury. Even if I had confirmation that both QBs would be active, they’d both come with some risk. Geno Smith would be at risk of an in-game setback, while Hurts could see his rushing and maybe even passing attempts limited if he’s not 100%. It has been tough sledding for D’Andre Swift, however, he finally has a desirable matchup.

A lot of it is the fact that the Seahawks DST had to defend Christian McCaffrey twice. They did a poor job in both meetings, allowing him to rush for a combined 259 yards and two touchdowns. It wasn’t just CMC, Tony Pollard found success against this defense in Week 13, and the same can be said of Baltimore’s Keaton Mitchell in Week 9. Whichever QB scenario we get, both teams are likely to emphasize getting their run games going.

Core Play

DK Metcalf

DraftKings Salary- $9,600

DK Metcalf embarrassed himself last week, I believe that he intends to do his best to embarrass the Eagles secondary on SNF tonight. Metcalf was ejected late in the fourth quarter after his frustrations led him to suplex a 49ers defender. Metcalf started the contest hot, catching 2 passes for 52 yards and a touchdown on the opening drive. Unfortunately, that would be the end of Metcalf’s production as he would finish with the same line on three more targets. Obviously getting Geno Smith back tonight would be the best-case scenario for all Seahawks pass catchers. But in the case the Smith does not return, Metcalf should still be the focal point of Seattle’s passing attack.

Value

Dallas Goedert

DraftKings Salary- $6,200

Dallas Goedert made his return from a three-game absence last week. While his 30 yards on four receptions wasn’t exactly flashy, it was nice to see him back on the field and not be limited in any fashion. The tight end was on the field for 84% of his team’s snaps last week, signaling that he was not on any sort of snap count. Goedert was able to avoid the injury report this week, logging full practices in each session. Dallas’ Monday Night Football matchup is a bit more favorable this week. The Seahawks DST has given up the 13th most fantasy points to the tight end position. Most recently, the 49er’s TE George Kittle bullied the Seattle defense for 76 yards and a touchdown on 4 receptions.

Sleeper

Zach Charbonnet

DraftKings Salary- $4,000

This past week we saw Zach Charbonnet and Kenneth Walker III basically split the work out of the backfield. Charbonnet received 9 carries, which he took for 44 scoreless yards. Walker got one less carry and ran for a paltry 21 yards. Only time will tell if the split was due to the Seahawks easing Walker back into game action following a two-game layoff. Seeing as how Charbonnet was productive in Walker’s absence and more efficient in his return, it would not shock me to see this trend continue. In that case, Charbonnet would become a very interesting player to monitor moving forward in dynasty formats. In terms of MNF, Zach Charbonnet remains a good bet to see enough work to pay of his low 4k salary.

MNF Bust

Kenneth Walker III

DraftKings Salary- $7,800

With my luck, the universe will decide to get cute and both Kennys (Kenneth Gainwell and Kenneth Walker III) will pop off. But I truly don’t think so. Kenny Walker is my bust tonight for the reasons mentioned in the Charbonnet blur above. Walker looked truly rusty in his return last week, not finding much running room on his eight carries. Walker did do some damage in the passing game last week, reeling in 4 of his 5 targets for 33 yards. Charbonnet actually profiles as the superior pass catcher, so that number is likely an anomaly as Walker had not been targeted more than twice in his four previous contests. This MNF bust selection goes double if Geno Smith happens to be out tonight.
