MLB Injury Report

Sean Murphy – C Atlanta Braves

The hamstring isn’t believed to be damaged enough to warrant a trip to the Injured List…..just yet. In a few days, there should be a better idea of how the team will proceed. For now, keep Murphy out of your lineups.

Gunnar Henderson – 3B/SS Baltimore Orioles

Look for Henderson to return when he feels better within the next few days. Curious to see if other Orioles players get sick too.

Tanner Houck – SP Boston Red Sox

Houck is eligible to return on July 2, though we’ll know more soon if he’ll return then.

Ezequiel Tovar – SS Colorado Rockies

Congratulations to the Tovar family.

Matt Vierling – OF Detroit Tigers

This recurring injury could complicate things and require another trip to the Injured List. Consider him DTD until we find out more.

Michael Massey – 2B Kansas City Royals, Vinnie Pasquantimno – 1B Kansas City Royals

Massey suffered a laceration on his finger last Thursday and will require time to let it heal. As for Pasquantino, he will miss the rest of the season after having surgery done on his shoulder. This move gives the team a chance to use another roster spot.

Daniel Hudson – RP Los Angeles Dodgers, Julio Urias – SP Los Angeles Dodgers

Both Hudson and Urias look to be back soon. The Dodgers play at Colorado on June 27 and then play at Kansas City on June 30. Hudson is playing at Triple-A Oklahoma City while Urias has yet to begin a rehab assignment.

Seth Lugo – SP San Diego Padres, Robert Suarez – RP San Diego Padres

Lugo looks to return at some point during this series with the Giants. All needs to go well for him to be there as he has one bullpen left to throw. Suarez on the other hand, threw 27 pitches and all of his secondaries, so he’s progressing well. There is no timetable for his return as he has some hurdles left to clear.

Casey Schmitt – 3B San Francisco Giants

Schmitt left after being hit by a pitch but looks to be DTD due to there being no structural damage.

Alex Cobb – SP San Francsico Giants

Cobb was dealing with hip tightness earlier this month and now he’ll miss time due to an oblique injury. Both of these added up to lead to a rough month and likely an extended trip to the Injured List into July.

Lars Nootbar – OF St. Louis Cardinals

Be prepared.

Alejandro Kirk – C Toronto Blue Jays

The good news is that the X-rays were negative and there doesn’t appear to be any structural damage. The bad news is that it sounds like a painful injury to the hand and it could still require a trip to the Injured List. Stay tuned.
