Fantasy Football 2023: Week 2 Wide Receiver Rankings

Week 2 is upon us and that means another week of wide receiver rankings from yours truly. Week 1 had some disappointing outcomes such as Ja’Marr Chase, A.J. Brown, Ceedee Lamb, and Devante Adams underperforming

But, that tends to happen in Week 1. Quarterbacks don’t play in the preseason, so players and playbooks can be a bit rusty. But, we did get a chance to see how some rookies played such as Zay Flowers. Jordan Addison and Puka Nacua.

Wide Receiver Notes:

  • Calvin Ridley has not lost his step and for that reason, I have him as my WR9 this week. I just wanted to see Ridley play before going all in on him. And I can confidently say that he will be a top 10 wide receiver this year. Trevor Lawrence was looking his way all game and Ridley was snatching everything up. The Jaguars have the Chiefs this week and we all saw what Amon-Ra St. Brown just did to their secondary.
  • Garrett Wilson drops down to WR17 for two reasons. Aaron Rodgers is out for the year and now they have Zach Wilson going up against the Cowboys defense. Garrett Wilson still makes the top 20 this week, just because of his talent. But, this is a terrible matchup for him this week. The Cowboys completely shut out Daniel Jones and the Giants offense and I can see them doing the same to Zach Wilson.
  • Mike Evans is my WR23 this week and I can say that it looks like he could have a breakout year with Baker Mayfield. Evans scored 15.6 fantasy points on six receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown. It took a little bit for Mayfield to get comfortable in the offense but I liked what I saw at the end of the game. Evans had 10 targets and I don’t see those looks going away anytime soon.
  • Lastly, I have my pickup of the week in Puka Nacua. I have the rookie wide receiver from the Rams as my WR36 this week against the 49ers. The rookie had 15 targets for 10 receptions and 119 yards. All he needed was a touchdown. But, it looks as if Matthew Stafford has found his new favorite target. The only other wide receiver with 15 targets was Tyreek Hill. Nacua is a flex start this week against a tough San Francisco defense.
