Fantasy Football 2023: Week 13 Players To Drop

Week 13 is here and if you want to make a run at the playoffs and have any of these players on your roster, then you need to drop them now. Unless you had a major injury in the week, your team should be set up by now. It is so late in the season, it doesn’t matter if you drop someone and someone else gets them. You’ve seen what they can do in 12 Weeks.

Week 13 Players to drop

Baker Mayfield, Quarterback, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Baker Mayfield was a great streamer from Weeks 7-10. But, over his last two games, he has not put up over 14 fantasy points. And for Week 13 he is going against a tough defense in the Panthers. Carolina is only giving up 13.9 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. I would drop Mayfield for Week 13 and, maybe stream him again in Week 14 and 16.

Geno Smith, Quarterback, Seattle Seahawks

Geno Smith was great last year and has had some good games this year. But, overall he has been highly inconsistent. Smith is rostered in around 50% of leagues combined between Fantrax, ESPN, and Yahoo. But, over the next two weeks, he has the Cowboys and the 49ers. The 49ers just held him to 7.3 fantasy points on Thanksgiving. Smith has only gone over 15 fantasy points three times this season. But, he is not startable over the next two weeks and must be dropped.

Aaron Jones, Running Back, Green Bay Packers

Aaron Jones has not been a stud like he has been in the past. But, even though he has a huge name I would drop Jones. Luckily this week he was listed as out so you could put him in the IR spot. But, it seems as if he is just not fully healthy. First, it was his hamstring and now it is his knee. He’s only gone over double-digit scoring just twice this season. So, at this point, he is just taking up a roster spot on your lineup. The Packers are on the bubble for the playoffs, but I don’t see Jones just coming alive for the rest of the season. If you could trade him, then I would. His fantasy playoff schedule is Tampa Bay, Carolina, and Minnesota. Tampa Bay and Minnesota are both in the top ten of toughest defenses against running backs.

Rico Dowdle, Running Back, Dallas Cowboys

Rico Dowdle looked like he would be a good pickup, but he flat-out isn’t going to be fantasy-relevant. He does have two touchdowns in his last three games. But, in those three games, his fantasy points have only been 14.4, 4, and 9.6 in PPR scoring. Pollard is still the lead back by a mile, but Dowdle has made his way into stealing some touchdowns. However, Dowdle will not be a starter for your team this year and should be dropped.

Amari Cooper, Wide Receiver, Cleveland Browns

Amari Cooper got a little banged up in his last game, but that is not the reason he needs to be dropped. The reason is, the Browns offense is just not good with Dorian Thompson-Robinson or Phillip Walker leading the way. Cooper has fallen off the last two weeks and going forward he has nothing but tough defenses against wide receivers. In his last two games, he has a combined six receptions for 50 yards.

Chris Godwin, Wide Receiver, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

I was holding out hope that Chris Godwin would come around toward the end of the season, but he only has one touchdown on the season and has scored under 10 fantasy points since Week 9. Going forward his next three games will be against defenses that are all ranked in the top ten lowest fantasy points giving up to wide receivers. The future doesn’t look bright for Godwin.
