Mason Mount

Position: Midfielder

Team: Chelsea

Ownership: 100%

Form Last 30 Days: 12.75 PPG

Next 5 Fixtures: eve (A), wol (A), WHU (H), ars (A), AVL (H)

What’s Changed?:  Mount has become undroppable for Chelsea in recent weeks, making that #8 role his own. He has been Chelsea’s chief creator over the last few games and will have the monopoly of set plays with Ziyech set to miss a month or so. Mount’s work rate alone will allow him to rack up counting stats needed for a consistent floor. Chelsea plays some leaky defenses over the next few weeks, where Mount could see a few more returns coming his way.

If Giroud continues to start, having him, Zouma and Silva to aim at on set-plays will continue to give Mount key passes. Chelsea is scoring for fun right now, and Mount seems like a sure-fire starter with both a solid floor and good upside.

Danny Welbeck

Position: Forward

Team: Brighton

Ownership: 62%

Form Last 30 Days: 14.12 PPG

Next 5 Fixtures: lei (A), ful (A), SHU (H), whu (A), ARS (H)

What’s Changed?:  Welbeck has been on fire since joining Brighton. In four starts he has one goal and two assists. He has racked up double digits in each of his starts and has been a key to the Brighton side. While Potter does love to rotate, it’s the hope that Welbeck continues to start with the form he is in. Brighton now has a great run of fixtures, where they will be looking for some wins. If Welbeck is still on your waiver wire he is a must-add for the next few fixtures.

Brighton still doesn’t know their best XI, with Trossard and Maupay fighting for a spot, but if they come in and play alongside Welbeck, this could be the firepower needed to push Welbeck to even further heights this season.

Kurt Zouma

Position: Defender

Team: Chelsea

Ownership: 92%

Form Last 30 Days: 10.31 PPG

Next 5 Fixtures: eve (A), wol (A), WHU (H), ars (A), AVL (H)

What’s Changed?: It truly gives me great pleasure to include Kurt Zouma in this week’s article! The guy is having a breakout season for Chelsea, who has been a rock for them, and is their joint top scorer. That’s crazy to think that a CB is joint top after 11 games in the season for a team in third place. Zouma has three double-digit scores in his last five games and doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon. Chelsea as a whole has been much better defensively since the signing of Mendy, and are a solid bet for a clean sheet most weeks.

At this point, Zouma must be considered an elite defender, with only Chilwell having more points than him this season. He should be considered a top 10 defender rest of season, with the potential to come top 5.

Gameweek 12 Player Rankings: More Hot Players!

Fantasy EPL Defenders

  • Reece James (92%, Chelsea) – Solid start to the season. He is a key pass machine down the right-hand side.
  • Joao Cancelo (98%, Manchester City) – Despite City’s struggles, Cancelo is putting up some monster scores in Fantrax. Friendly fixtures coming up!
  • Ben Chilwell (100%, Chelsea) – Chilwell has started brightly for his new club. He will rival to be the top-scoring defender this season.
  • Serge Aurier (97%, Spurs) – Seems to have replaced Doherty, and an elite defender when he starts.

Fantasy EPL Midfielders

  • Hakim Ziyech (100%, Chelsea) – Playing in a very attacking Chelsea side. Incredible delivery and will see his fair share of returns. Injured now.
  • Pascal Gross (61%, Brighton) – On fire for a team struggling to score. Take advantage of his good form while it lasts.
  • Jack Harrison (96%, Leeds) – A must own.  Creating a lot of chances, and filling up the stat sheet.
  • Daniel Podence (69%, Wolves) – With Jota leaving to join Liverpool it’s all aboard the Podence train!
  • Bruno Fernandes (100%, Manchester United) – The best player in Fantrax this season. Doesn’t look to be slowing down.
  • James Ward-Prowse (100%, Southampton) – World class at set plays. Southampton is in great form, a must-have right now.

Fantasy EPL Forwards

  • Mohamed Salah (100%, Liverpool) – Obviously.
  • Jamie Vardy (100%, Leicester) – The Vardy Party is here to stay.
  • Harry Kane (100%, Spurs) – What can’t Kane do?
  • Che Adams (94%, Southampton) – After a poor start last season, Adams is really starting to find his feet.

❄️❄️❄️ Gameweek 12 Player Rankings: Cold List ❄️❄️❄️

These are Fantasy EPL players that have fallen in our rankings.  This may be due to poor form, they have been dropped from the best 11, they have suffered an injury, or received a suspension.  It’s time to consider dropping these players from your squads!

Gareth Bale

Position: Midfielder

Team: Tottenham

Ownership: 92%

Form Last 30 Days: 6.6 PPG

Next 5 Fixtures: cpl (A), liv (A), LEI (H), wol (A), FUL (H)

What’s Changed?: Bale has failed to make an EPL appearance for Spurs in his last three games. With the team playing so well, there is a growing worry Bale is firmly in the B squad. Mourinho always has a reason behind everything, and maybe he is planning on only using Bale in easier games instead of ones against the top 6 teams. If that is the case, Bale should see some starts after the Liverpool fixture ahead of the workhorse that is Bergwijin.

In Bale’s only start of the season, he managed just 6.5 points against West Brom. These aren’t exactly groundbreaking numbers, but his upside will be immense being part of an attack with Kane and Son.

Recommendation:  I would recommend holding Bale until at least the Leicester game, if he fails to even come off the bench then, it may be time to drop him.

Kai Havertz

Position: Midfielder

Team: Chelsea

Ownership: 96%

Form Last 30 Days: 1.75 PPG

Next 5 Fixtures: eve (A), wol (A), WHU (H), ars (A), AVL (H)

What’s Changed?: Since his return from COVID-19 Havertz has been very poor from a fantasy perspective. This entire season he wasn’t putting up the numbers managers have hoped for, despite Chelsea being in fine form and scoring plenty of goals. The worry for Havertz comes with him not being as key in the attack as the likes of Mount and the front three Lampard selects. There is now an added fear of potential rotation with Kovacic, especially in tougher games.

Havertz was a long-term investment by Chelsea knowing he will become truly one of the world’s best talents, but this may not be the season we see the best of Havertz. I do expect some improvement and a few big scores of 25+ points, but for the most part, this won’t be the season we see him at his best.

Recommendation: I’d recommend holding Havertz, and holding him until he has a few good games, and then looking to ship him out. If there is a manager in your league currently eyeing Havertz, don’t be afraid to take a minor hit to get back a more consistent MID2/3 for Havertz.

Donny van de Beek

Position: Midfielder

Team: Manchester United

Ownership: 74%

Form Last 30 Days: 1.67 PPG

Next 5 Fixtures: MCI (H), shu (A), LEE (H), lei (A), WOL (H)

What’s Changed?:  Van de Beek, has gotten off to a bumpy start at Old Trafford. He hasn’t found consistent playing time, and even in his starts, he hasn’t exactly shown a reason why United bought him in the summer. His work ethic is commendable, but he hasn’t really done much besides run hard for every minute on the pitch. Unfortunately running hard doesn’t translate into fantasy points. Van de Beek has made two consecutive EPL starts, scoring 2 points and 1 point respectively. He was also hooked at half-time in the win against West Ham.

I truly don’t expect much in both reality and fantasy from van de Beek this season. Even if Pogba does leave in January, DVB is simply not proving he will be a worthwhile fantasy asset.

Recommendation: I would drop Donny van de Beek in any sized league. It is better to have a free bench spot to pick up cover players than to continue to hold a player whose best start has given you just two points.
