Daily Preview and NBA DFS Picks for 6/8/2021

There have been some shocking outcomes in the early matchups of the second round thus far. Not only does that make for great TV, but it also makes for the potential of unique NBA DFS lineups. This is critical to take down 1st place in a two-game slate.

Playing NBA DFS can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also make your head spin. It’s our job to make sure you’re winning as much as possible! There are countless variables that can lead to a player’s individual performance, but I’ve found it’s best to focus on just a few that can lead to better predictability.

My favorite factors to track for NBA DFS targets: Matchups (Offensive/Defensive Ratings), Opportunity (expected player minutes, game pace), and Recent Form.

This is the AM VERSION of a living article that will be updated throughout the day, as news comes through the wire.

LET’S GET INTO THE SLATE!!!!

NBA DFS Targets and Preview for June 8

Hawks vs. 76ers (Hawks Lead 1-0)

I didn’t expect the Hawks to take the first game. Whether Embiid was healthy or not, the Hawks weren’t built to overcome the second-ranked defense in the league. I miscalculated that Trae Young has ascended to the level of unguardable when he’s hot, and he’s stopped hoisting so many threes, in favor of making the right passes to open shooters/cutters. A playoff matchup is meant to find the best team over the long run, though. We’ve only had a one-game sample, and Philly will adjust. Perhaps by putting the much bigger (and potential defensive player of the year) Ben Simmons on Trae Young. Further, Embiid may not be 100%, but if you drop 39 points in the playoffs, you’re healthy enough. I like Philly to win this game, and the series.

DFS Targets: ATL targets: Young, Bogdonavic, Huerter, Collins. PHI targets: Simmons, Harris, Curry, and Embiid.

Clippers vs. Jazz (Series Tied 0-0)

The Clippers barely beat the Mavs in the first round. I wouldn’t even mention that, if not for the fact that THE MAVS AREN’T GOOD! If LAC couldn’t handle Luka by himself, I have no idea how they’re going to deal with Mitchell, Gobert, Ingles, Clarkson, and Bogdanovic. I just don’t think that the Clippers are built for a championship this year. That means they aren’t built to beat the number one team in net rating in the league. A team top five in both offense and defense. I expect the Jazz to win this game and the series. Both relatively easily.

DFS Targets: LAC targets: Leonard and George. UTA targets: Mitchell, Gobert, Bogdanovic, Ingles, and Clarkson.
