Daily Preview and NBA DFS Picks for 6/2/2021

We’ve got another four-game NBA DFS playoff slate today! My Wizards pulled it out, so I’m riding high on that win. It’s because of Russ and Brad that this isn’t just a three game slate today. The Heat couldn’t even prevent themselves from being swept. Let’s go!!!

Playing NBA DFS can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also make your head spin. It’s our job to make sure you’re winning as much as possible! There are countless variables that can lead to a player’s individual performance, but I’ve found it’s best to focus on just a few that can lead to better predictability.

My favorite factors to track for NBA DFS targets: Matchups (Offensive/Defensive Ratings), Opportunity (expected player minutes, game pace), and Recent Form.

This is the AM VERSION of a living article that will be updated throughout the day, as news comes through the wire.

LET’S GET INTO THE SLATE!!!!

NBA DFS Targets and Preview for June 2

Wizards vs. 76ers (76ers Lead 3-1)

The Wizards got Joel Embiid in foul trouble in Game 1 and almost pulled out the win. In game 4, Embiid got hurt, and didn’t return to the game, resulting in Washington’s first win of the series. This just got interesting. Now Doc and the 76ers medical staff need to wrestle with the “play vs. heal/rest” question. They can afford to lose the next couple games while waiting for Embiid to heal for the long-term benefit of the team…right? Well, I don’t think they can. This should breathe new life into the Wiz. Embiid is either going to play at less than 100% or not play at all. Either way, the Wiz should win this game. I don’t believe in counting on Ben Simmons or Tobias Harris to pick up the scoring load. Philly is built to go through Embiid.

DFS Targets: WAS targets: Westbrook, Beal, Rui, and Smith. PHI targets: Simmons, Harris, Howard, and Embiid (if he plays).

Hawks vs. Knicks (Hawks Lead 3-1)

The Knicks are back at home. Normally, that would be a boon to the home team, but Knicks fans are a special breed. They’ll be deafening if they love you, and they’ll give you the treatment of an away crowd if you’re underperforming. I’m not going to give the Knicks that crowd edge. Where I do give them an edge is that they have a top three defense in the league, and they haven’t played like it in this series. Eventually, they’re going to regress up to their mean. Randle will play better. They’ll get stops. Knicks should win this.

DFS Targets: ATL targets: Young, Bogdanovic, Hunter, Collins, Capela. NYK targets: Randle, Burks, Rose, Quickley, and Gibson.

Grizzlies vs. Jazz (Jazz Lead 3-1)

I view this matchup in the same way that I view Brooklyn vs. Boston. The Jazz are number one in net rating for a reason. They are just better. Defensively and offensively. Ja Morant has to drop 50 for them to even have a chance. I don’t bet on those kind of outlier performances. Jazz should close this out tonight, but it won’t be easy.

DFS Targets: MEM targets: Morant, Jonas, Brooks, and Anderson. UTA targets: Mitchell, Bogdanovic, Gobert, and Clarkson.

Mavericks vs. Clippers (Series Tied 2-2)

Luka Doncic playing hero ball is the only reason Dallas has two wins in this series. Now that he’s hurt, it dramatically changes Dallas’ outlook. Apparently, the injury is nagging and lingering enough that if this was the regular season he probably wouldn’t play. Much like Memphis’ situation, their star player has to be damn near perfect for Dallas to have a chance. LAC is both much deeper and more talented at the top. LAC should take this one. Especially at home.

DFS Targets: LAC targets: George, Kawhi, Rondo, Jackson, and Morris. DAL targets: Luka, Hardaway, and Kleber.

Don’t forget to check back later in the day as Bradlee will be updating his NBA DFS preview with all the info you need to turn tonight’s slate into a resounding success!
