Daily Preview and NBA DFS Picks for 4/29/2021

Everyday we inch closer to the playoffs. The pots will be bigger for the playoffs, so let’s make sure to grow our bankroll as much as possible, leading up to the big games. Unfortunately, we’ve got a tough six game slate tonight. A slate full of potential blowouts. That’s tough for NBA DFS purposes, but we play the cards we’re dealt. Onward!

Playing NBA DFS can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also make your head spin. It’s our job to make sure you’re winning as much as possible! There are countless variables that can lead to a player’s individual performance, but I’ve found it’s best to focus on just a few that can lead to better predictability.

My favorite factors to track for NBA DFS targets: Matchups (Offensive/Defensive Ratings), Opportunity (expected player minutes, game pace), and Recent Form.

This is the AM VERSION of a living article that will be updated throughout the day, as news comes through the wire.

LET’S GET INTO THE SLATE!!!!

NBA DFS Targets and Preview for April 29

Mavericks vs. Pistons

One team is above .500 and one team is over 20 games below .500. The Mavs just beat the Warriors by 30, while the Pistons…could not do that. Take the Mavs in this one. Life is short. It will be even shorter if you waste too much time on this decision.

DFS Targets: DAL targets: Luka and Porzingis. DET targets: Grant. Just stick with the stars in what could potentially be a blowout game. Even on a short slate.

Nets vs. Pacers

The Nets are really rolling with KD back. I don’t anticipate this will be close. It’s worth noting, though: Sabonis and Goga being injured has really helped Brissett and Sumner show that they are REAL NBA players. I’ve loved what I’ve seen from them. Hopefully, they can get some solid contracts out of this. The Nets are 6th in net rating, while the Pacers are 19th. Brooklyn can score with their eyes closed, while the Pacers got blown out by 20 against the Blazers the other night. Nets win.

DFS Targets: BKN targets: KD and Kyrie. IND targets: Brogdon, Sabonis (if he plays), Brissett, and Sumner.

Bucks vs. Rockets

This isn’t the best slate for close matchups. We’ve got another blowout on tap for this one. The Bucks are 3rd in net rating, while the Rockets are 3rd to last. They’ve also lost John Wall for the rest of the season. And they aren’t good. That last one is most important. Bucks win.

DFS Targets: MIL targets: Giannis, Holiday, and Middleton. HOU targets: KPJ, Wood, and Olynyk. Just stick with stars/usage.

Warriors vs. Timberwolves

I’m sorry. If you came to this article looking for any heavy-hitting analysis on this slate, I can’t bring it to you. I think this is another potential blowout. The Warriors are 18th in net rating but have a top-10 defense. The Wolves have gotten better since KAT and DLO came back, but they are still very bad. 26th in net rating bad. GSW takes this one.

DFS Targets: GSW targets: Curry, Oubre, Wiggins, and Green. MIN targets: KAT, Edwards, and DLO.

Pelicans vs. Thunder

In fairness to the NBA, when they booked these matchups, they didn’t know they were going to have six potential blowouts on a six-game slate. Look at the bright side: We can watch the NFL Draft tonight, without needing to flip channels to any NBA games. No Shai, no victory. The Thunder have nothing for Zion and Brandon Ingram. Pelicans win.

DFS Targets: NOP targets: Zion and Ingram. OKC targets: Poku, Maledon, and Dort.

Raptors vs. Nuggets

I’ve already foreshadowed the potential blowout in this one. Denver is 5th in net rating and really hasn’t lost a step since Murray went down. The Raptors are 14th in net rating, but there’s a reason they aren’t in the playoff picture right now. They haven’t been able to steal wins against good teams. Denver is a great team. Nuggets win.

DFS Targets: TOR targets: FVV, Lowry, OG, and Siakam. DEN targets: Jokic and MPJ.
