2023 Los Angeles Rams Fantasy Football Preview

Coming off a Super Bowl championship, the Los Angeles Rams had one of the most disappointing fantasy football runs in recent memory. Cooper Kupp came out of the gate hot and was WR4 in PPR until his injury in Week 10.

Allen Robinson II had a lot of upside going to the Rams and he highly underperformed. In PPR scoring he only scored over 10 fantasy points four times in the 10 games he played. Robinson also missed Weeks 12-18 with injuries.

As for running backs Cam Akers only averaged 9.4 fantasy points a game in PPR scoring. Latavius Murray, AJ Dillon, Tyler Allgeier and Antonio Gibson all finished higher than Akers.

Key Subtractions and Additions

The Rams didn’t go crazy in free agency as they went about clearing the cap. They traded Robinson II to the Steelers for a seventh-round pick. They also traded Jalen Ramsey and cut Bobby Wagner.

As for additions, the Rams didn’t go after anyone that has high fantasy hopes. They did increase their offensive line with second-round pick Steve Avila. They also took Stetson Bennett, from the national champion Georgia Bulldogs, with their fourth pick.

The Rams took 14 players in the draft, mainly upgrading their defense and offensive line.

Positional Previews

Quarterback

Matthew Stafford hasn’t been a top fantasy producer for a while, but he will still be the starter this year. Bennett is the only one that could impress, but if the Rams are going to win games, they will stick with Stafford.

Running Back

The running back position could get interesting this year. Akers should be the clear favorite, as he can score 40 fantasy points in any given game. But, he has had problems with injuries and those seemed to hold him back last season.

Kyren Williams saw some playing time last season and didn’t do much. But he was a rookie and the Rams offense was not running at its best. Williams still has a lot of upside going into his second year and could steal some carries away.

Wide Receiver

Kupp is the only draftable wide receiver. The Rams WR2 is Van Jefferson, who has been highly inconsistent during his Rams career.

Unless the Rams make a trade at wide receiver, then Kupp is about to have another historic season.

Tight End

Tyler Higbee always has all the hype going into the new season, but don’t fall for it. His career high in touchdowns is five in seven seasons. He doesn’t have much competition at the tight-end position.

If there is any year Higbee is going to be a fantasy threat it is going to be this year. He should be the second favorite target on the team as only Kupp is ahead of him.

D/ST

The Rams were terrible on defense last year. They did make a lot of upgrades in the draft, but then again their defense is going to be full of rookies. They lost Ramsey and Wagner along with Leonard Floyd.

Their defensive line will start two rookies Kobie Turner and Byron Young.

They lost Taylor Rapp in free agency as well.

The Rams still have Aaron Donald who will put pressure on the quarterback, but this defense is not it. The Rams are no longer elite on defense.
