2023 Fantasy Football: Week 14 Tight End Rankings

Young tight ends Sam LaPorta and Trey McBride dominated last week. They finished as the top two tight ends in Week 13, combining for two touchdowns and 229 receiving yards. Both continue to move up the ranks while emerging as elite options at the position. Unfortunately, McBride will be a casualty of the final round of bye weeks this week, along with Logan Thomas. But LaPorta is a weekly top-three player and ranks as the TE2 in my Week 14 rankings.

Injuries to monitor for Week 14

  • Dallas Goedert could return to action this week. He was inactive for Week 13 but was able to get in a limited practice last Friday. Stay tuned.
  • Dalton Schultz missed last week with a hamstring injury, and his Week 14 status is unclear. Brevin Jordan will be a solid fill-in in a plus matchup against the Jets if Schultz can’t suit up.
  • Tyler Higbee cleared concussion protocol and is now dealing with a stinger in his neck. He’s questionable for the Week 14 matchup against the Ravens.

Tight End Notes

Bye Weeks: ARI, WAS

  • Taysom Hill is coming off a strong week where he rushed 13 times for a team-high 59 yards and a touchdown. He also caught a couple of passes for 15 yards. Up next is a smash spot for the Saints’ Swiss Army knife. He faces a Panthers defense that is tough against tight ends but vulnerable against the ground game — the area where Hill does most of his damage. The Panthers allow the most rushing touchdowns and the fourth-most rushing yards to running backs. Hill should have no problem taking advantage. He’s rushed for 50+ yards in three of the last five weeks while tacking on three rushing scores in that span. Hill should also be good for a couple of receptions and passes, especially if Jameis Winston is under center in Week 14. This is the type of matchup where Hill could go off, making him a top-five tight end for me.
  • In Week 12, Isaiah Likely caught four of his six targets for 40 yards in his first game as the Ravens’ starting tight end. He led the team in receiving yards and was the second-most targeted player. Coming off a bye week, Likely has a prime opportunity to make more noise in Week 14. He faces a Rams defense that allows the third-most fantasy points and sixth-most receiving yards to tight ends. They’ve also given up six touchdowns to the position this season, tied for second-most. Likely will reportedly run the same plays as Mark Andrews, meaning he should see a fair amount of passing volume moving forward. I expect Likely to take advantage and is the TE7 in my Week 14 tight end rankings.
  • Gerald Everett has a dream matchup against the Broncos in Week 14. Denver gives up the most fantasy points and second-most receiving yards to the position. They’ve also allowed tight ends to score six touchdowns this season, tied for second-most. Everett isn’t the most consistent tight end, but he has seen at least four targets and topped 40 receiving yards in the last two weeks. He’s also found the end zone three times in his last six games. There is some risk involved with Everett since the Chargers utilize a tight end committee with Donald Parham Jr. However, Everett is the safer bet with the most touchdown-upside. He’s a top-tier TE2 who could easily sneak into TE1 territory in Week 14.
  • Cade Otton had a week to forget after laying a goose egg against the Panthers in Week 13. The lack of targets was surprising, given Otton had seen at least four targets in all but one of his previous six games. He also averaged just over 40 receiving yards per game in that span. Otton should be able to rebound in Week 14. He gets a favorable matchup against a Falcons defense that has given up the third-most receptions and receiving yards to tight ends. They’ve also allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to the position. The last time Otton faced the Falcons, he caught five of six targets for 43 yards. Look for a repeat in Week 14, and cross your fingers for a touchdown.
