2021 Fantasy Football: Week 9 RB Rankings

Week 8 had to be the worst week for running backs. You’ll notice for my Week 9 RB rankings that Derrick Henry will not be at the top and James Robinson dropped to 27. While I have Michael Carter, Elijah Mitchell, and Damien Harris all making it in the top 15 this week.

This has to be the most surprising list I have put together, but you never know with injuries. Fantasy football always has you on your toes, so this list will take you into the victory column for Week 9. On that note let’s get into the rankings notes.

Just as a reminder if you haven’t seen my other rankings, this list is based on half PPR scoring.

Week 9 RB Rankings Notes:

Najee Harris continues to climb in the rankings and it was hard not to put him at four. Because he has been one of the most consistent running backs this season. The matchups between Dalvin Cook and NajeeHarris are pretty even, but Cook has the explosiveness to go off. But, because of how consistent Najee Harris has been, is why I have him ranked over Aaron Jones and Ezekiel Elliott.

Damien Harris and Mitchell are the other two who have jumped up the most in the last couple of weeks. Damien Harris has not gone under 58 rushing yards in the last four games. In two of those games, he went over 100 rushing yards. He also has five touchdowns in that four-game stretch. This week the Patriots have the Panthers in what should be a blowout. Mitchell on the other hand is on back-to-back 100-yard rushing games with a touchdown in both. Mitchell looks to be the clear number one running back for the 49ers. The Cardinals are great against the run, but Mitchell has 18 attempts in both those games. He is getting the touches, so run with the hot hand.

Lastly, let’s talk about Jeremy McNichols. I have him ranked at 30 this week. I’m sure this may seem low since the Titans are a run-first team and Henry is out. But, they are only a run-first team with Henry playing. I don’t see McNichols having a big week, especially going against the Rams. They also just added Von Miller to team up with Aaron Donald. I see the Titans throwing the ball a whole lot more now and McNichols is only valuable in the passing game. He is a flex start at best this week.
