Week 6 NFL Picks from Chris Meaney
I can not get the Titans right for the life of me. It’s been five weeks in a row now where I have been on the wrong side of them. Spoiler alert…I don’t like them this week so plan accordingly. This week features the highest over/under total of the season at 59.5. Tom Brady and the New England Patriots welcome in Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in what should be a very entertaining Sunday night game. It’s one of four games in the 50’s, so expect another high scoring week in the NFL. How do I deal with all this scoring in my Week 6 NFL Picks? Read on.
We’ll keep track of all my picks throughout the season, including my losses! Over time, we’ll find out if you should back me or straight up fade me. Send your complaints to @chrismeaney.
Week 6 NFL Picks
Philadelphia Eagles -1 @ New York Giants (44.5)
The Eagles definitely don’t look like themselves and life without Jay Ajayi begins Thursday. It’s not the end of the world, but the O-line has not look great and Carson Wentz had been rocked numerous times over the past couple weeks. Lane Johnson won’t be anywhere near 100 percent if he plays. As bad as Eli Manning has looked, the Eagles secondary has looked just as bad. Great red zone defense, but struggling to cover. With that said…it’s the Giants.
Arizona Cardinals @ Minnesota Vikings -10 (41.0)
Minnesota can’t lose two games at home to the lowest scoring teams in the NFL can they? The Vikings are heavy home favorites again this week and haven’t beat anybody big all season. Minnesota figures out the run game this week against the second worst team against the rush. Dalvin Cook returning should help that.
Buffalo Bills @ Houston Texans -10 (41)
Deshaun Watson has been hit more than any other quarterback this season and he looked in a lot of pain last week. The Bills can’t get much going on offense, but their defense keeps them in games. LeSean McCoy had hop in his step last week and you can bet he will again with trade rumors swirling.
Carolina Panthers @ Washington Redskins -1.5 (44.5)
The Washington Redskins are dealing with a lot of injuries on offense and Alex Smith has not looked great. Their defense also isn’t as good as the numbers suggest.
Chicago Bears -3.5 @ Miami Dolphins (41.5)
There is a lot to like about the Bears, especially on defense. Miami has had 10 red zone trips this season and Chicago has given up very little on thee ground or through the air.
Indianapolis Colts @ New York Jets -2.5 (45.5)
Andrew Luck has thrown the ball more than any other QB in the league because his defense is not great and he’s without a run game. The Jets are more complete team, especially in those areas.
Los Angeles Chargers -1 @ Cleveland Browns (45)
The Browns have been in every game this season so it wouldn’t shock me to see this come down to a last second field goal. If you’ve watched closely, these teams just can’t seem to figure it out towards the end of games, when they are tight. Miss kicks all over the place. I don’t trust any of these kickers and the Chargers just signed Mike Badgley. He will miss at the end of the game. Browns win in another thriller.
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals -2 (52.5)
The Steelers need this game more than the Bengals do that’s for sure, but I’ll lean Cincy just because this game is at home. The road struggles for Ben, inside the division especially are for real. Both of these defenses have allowed some big yards this season, but the Steelers have been far worse.
Seattle Seahawks -2.5 @ Oakland Raiders (48)
This game is in LONDON! Russell Wilson is on the verge of breaking out, and a trip to England should do the trick. Jokes aside, a matchup against the Oakland Raiders defense should do the trick.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Atlanta Falcons -3 (57)
This game has shootout written all over it. They are number one and number two in points allowed. Falcons at home in overtime.
Los Angeles Rams -7 @ Denver Broncos (52)
Baltimore Ravens -2.5 @ Tennessee Titans (41.5)
This is the week, where I get the Titans game right because they LOSE to the better football team in the Baltimore Ravens.
Jacksonville Jaguars -3 @ Dallas Cowboys (40.5)
Most of Dallas’ games play to the under due to their slow pace. They don’t score much and the Jags don’t allow much. Both of these teams like to run the ball, but at least Jacksonville can move the chains. Jason Garrett may have lost his locker room last week.
Kansas City Chiefs @ New England Patriots -3 (59.5)
Andy Reid has owned Tom Brady and company over the past few years, but I still can’t bet against them. They are at home and on primetime with everyone talking about Patrick Mahomes. The Patriots run game is working and their defense has looked a lot better than the Chiefs’ unit.
San Francisco 49ers @ Green Bay Packers -9.5 (46.5)
Aaron Rodgers is completely off the injury report and looks really good in the second half last week. A few of his weapons are banged up, but he should manage against C.J. Beathard and Alfred Morris.
