Week 5 Tight End Sleepers: Time to do the Vance Dance

Now that we have four weeks of football in the book, the sample size is big enough to make informed projections. The proof is in the funky pudding that is in the tight end position. If you are feeling bold, take a spoon full of Week 5 tight end sleepers. You might just find something pretty sweet.

Fantrax Football CommissionerCameron Brate should be added on all formats. He does not make this week’s list since the Buccaneers are on a bye. Spoiler alert: He will be on next week’s piece. Jameis Winston loves to throw touchdowns to Brate. See: Weeks two thru five last season Brate caught a touchdown from Winston yet again on Sunday and O. J. Howard is going to miss two-four weeks with an MCL sprain. I’ll save more on Brate for next week. For Now, let’s get into some Week 5 Tight End Sleepers

Week 5 Tight End Sleepers

Tyler Kroft, Cincinnati Bengals

If you have not gotten the memo, the Bengals offense is legit this season.

Andy Dalton is tied for second in the NFL with 11 touchdowns. A.J. Green and Tyler Boyd are both Fantasy relevant. Joe Mixon is coming back and the Bengals are tied for first place in the AFC Central.

Unfortunately, the Bengals lost former pro bowler Tyler Eifert for the season with a broken ankle. He looked like he was well on his way to another pro bowl year based on his last two games. The next guy up is Tyler Kroft who caught seven touchdowns last season in Eifert’s absence. Fire up Kroft against the Dolphins in Week 5.

Vance MacDonald, Pittsburg Steelers

It is nice to have a piece of offenses that pass the ball a lot. Most teams are doing it so it should not be too hard to find guys that can get reasonable volume. Vance McDonald gets the volume and is also a large, large man. This is evident in two straight weeks of trucking someone to the ground on national television.

McDonald was on the field for 62 percent of snaps against the Ravens. This outpaced Jesse James (50 percent) who has received two targets in two weeks. It is clear that the Steelers view Mcdonald as their TE1 and so should you. The Steelers play the Falcons in Week 5 in a game that has a whopping 57 point over/under. Start McDonald with confidence against the Falcons who just gave up a touchdown to Tyler Eifert in Week 4.
