Week 5 Survivor Pool Picks

New England Patriots over the Houston Texans

  • Picking against Houston while Davis Mills is still at QB is honestly one of the better strategies one can use in a survival pool. Not to mention, the Patriots looked rock solid against a very good Buccaneers team in Week 4. This is one not to overthink as it is one of the Patriots’ best chances to take home a sure-thing win all season. Now is the time to jump on an erratic team with a rookie QB and put a little faith in them.

Minnesota Vikings over the Detroit Lions:

  • This game has Dalvin Cook over 100 rushing yards written all over it. I am not going to lie, I liked the Lions last week against the Bears, and they showed me exactly why I shouldn’t bet on them in any case. Minnesota has looked better week to week, and this Lions offensive line is extremely banged up. Expect a huge running attack from Minnesota where they get ahead early, and likely never give the lead back.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the Miami Dolphins

  • I am trying not to be chalk with these picks, but this week is tough and, as always, we all need a win. Sometimes the games could truly go either way, so in which case now may be the time to burn one of your better teams in the Bucs. They are coming home after a tough game on the road, and I expect them to light up the scoreboard in this one. While the Dolphins are no slouch, the Bucs should roll through them this week.

Matchup to Avoid

New York Jets @ Atlanta Falcons:

  • This is a matchup that one should look to avoid. This matchup happens to be in London, so there is no real home-field advantage, and this game is going to be ugly. These are perhaps two of the hardest teams to watch this season. Though the Jets looked better last week coming off a win against Tennessee, and the Falcons played Washington close, this game is going to either be a close one, or a blowout. However, the reason to avoid this matchup is that it is going to be extremely difficult to predict.
