Week 5 Deep League Streamers and Dart Throws

Welcome to Week 5! I can’t believe we are already over a quarter of the way through the fantasy football season. As we enter Week 5, bye weeks are in full effect and injuries are running rampant. Hopefully, my streamers can help you get through these rough weeks ahead.

The idea of this article is to give you a player worth streaming at every position that is less than 30% owned in redraft leagues. At the end I will give you what I deem “Deep League Dart Throws.” This will feature a few names that are a true Hail Mary if you’re playing from behind after Thursday night or just ravaged with injury and you need a miracle.

Week 5 Deep League Streamers and Dart Throws

QB Streamer: Sam Darnold, New York Jets

Although Sam Darnold is currently listed as questionable, his teammates had glowing reviews about how he looked in practice. It is no sure thing he plays but if he does I like him the most of the streamers available to choose from. If he is able to give it a go I absolutely love this matchup for him.

This says it all. There will be a ton of opportunity to have a big fantasy game against that lackluster passing defense. I know he may not be 100% but I think the match-up is still good enough to give him a shot if you’re in a pinch. If Darnold does, in fact, suit up, I would also fire up the jets receivers. They were too owned to be considered for this list.

Let’s just say we could see some of this come Sunday!

RB Streamer: Ryquell Armstead, Jacksonville Jaguars

Every week finding a streamer to recommend with low enough ownership at RB is beyond difficult. These truly are deep league streamers at best and you’d have to be in a real pinch to give these guys a go.

So with that said, I’m rolling with Ryquell Armstead. I look at some of the potential game script for this one. With Minshew likely playing hurt, I anticipate a heavy dose of the run game. Last week Armstead got a little more involved as well. He got 9 touches (8 carries and 1 catch) and 3 of the touches were in the red zone ( 2 carries and 1 reception). The reception resulted in a TD.

They also get to face a rushing defense in Carolina that has been allowing quite a bit to running backs on the year, as noted below.

But beware, the panthers have managed to keep RB Fantasy PPG low as a whole this year.

WR Streamer: KeeSean Johnson, Arizona Cardinals

Arizona cut Michael Crabtree and Christian Kirk is listed as doubtful for this week 5 match-up vs the Cincinnati Bengals. This leaves a lot of targets up for grabs in this offense that loves to throw the ball.

With all this considered, it led me to KeeSean Johnson. With Kirk going down that is leading to a lot of targets and snaps top be had. Kirk led the team in total snap count to this point and has had a 93% total snap share on the season. That is a ton of vacated snaps this week and I believe Johnson will be the man to step up.

The last time he was vaulted into a bigger role was in week 1 and he had the 3rd highest targets among the pass catchers that week on the team. He was able to bring in 5 of those targets for 46 yards. The opportunity for the increased role is there again and I’d look at KeeSean Johnson to fill the void.

As if there wasn’t enough of an opportunity already, KeeSean Johnson gets a chance to face the Bengals defense here in week 5. The Bengals have allowed the 5th highest catch rate against them this season.

If you take that fact and pair it with this Arizona pass-first offense you then have a recipe for success.

TE Streamer: Tyler Eifert, Cincinnati Bengals

I can not believe I’m doing this, but I’m DOUBLING DOWN on Tyler Eifert this week. With the loss of John Ross and the likelihood of a shoot-out with Arizona, I’m putting my eggs back into the Eifert basket. Although watching a TD just sail out of his hands last week on prime time television should make me a tad wary, I’m sticking with him!

John Ross is out and there are more targets to go around. Tyler Eifert is more of a red-zone threat, but this is a match-up that the Bengals will likely have to throw to compete and keep pace with the Cardinals. Speaking of red-zone targets, Eifert had two in Week 4 and has a total of four on the year which leads the team. I could see a TD coming his way in this one.

Deep League Dart Throws

QB: Teddy Bridgewater, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – The Bucs D has allowed THE MOST receiving yards, THE MOST receptions and the third-most air yards on the season. Not to mention they give up the 3rd most fantasy points per game (21.1) to QB’s.

RB: Ito Smith, Atlanta Falcons – TD or bust.

WR: Auden Tate, Cincinnati Bengals – Chalk stream. Stated the reasoning for to roll with Eifert and it applies for Tate as well

TE: Ricky Seals-Jones, Cleveland Browns – receiving first TE in an offense that can be very boon or bust. Scored last week and could cause matchup problems again. TD dependent.
