Week 11 Survivor Pool Picks

Welcome to my Week 11 Survivor Pool Picks. Each week I am going to break down my strategy, including my three favorite picks, and my top pick to stay away from. Let’s survive to check back in Week 12.

I am not going to sugarcoat it guys, these last few weeks have been brutal with upsets. In fact, last week my pick of the Steelers, Cardinals, and Broncos went 0-3. I studied the games, I used data in making these picks, but it simply was not enough. I take two major things away from that: First, that this league is extremely competitive and league-wide parity is one major reason why the NFL is so great, any team can beat anyone on any given Sunday. The second thing that I realized is that sports truly are an anomaly, there is no formula that can equate what is going to happen on the field, there is too much human factor, and the pursuit of mastering the knowledge of this game is ever changing, and there is always something new to learn. So if you are still with me on this, lets try to find you a winner this week, after all I am here to help you stay alive in your survivor pool leagues, so on to the next one!

Picks of the Week

Detroit Lions @ Cleveland Browns

Cleveland is expected to have Nick Chubb back this week as of right now. I simply think that Cleveland is the superior team in every area of football. If the Browns have a combination of Chubb and Johnson, expect them to run the ball early and often. Even if Baker Mayfield does not play, Case Keenum is certainly good enough to get the job done against this Lions defense.

San Francisco 49ers @ Jacksonville Jaguars

San Francisco put on a show against the Rams on MNF. The Jags, are not the rams, and I think that this 49ers team is much better than their record indicates. I think this is a great opportunity for the 49ers to get themselves back into the playoff picture. While both teams possess top-12 run defenses in terms of rushing yards per game allowed, San Francisco is a top-10 passing defense and Jacksonville ranks 25th. It is this disparity that gives the 49ers the edge and it could be a big game for Deebo Samuel and George Kittle.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Los Angeles Chargers

Even if Roethlisberger does play in Week 11, he has been working his way back from COVID-19, and will likely show some signs of fatigue. If he doesn’t play, Mason Rudolph would be at the helm, and he wasn’t capable of beating the Lions last week, let alone a rock solid Chargers team. Herbert did not look to form in Week 10, but expect him to bounce back and the Chargers to come away with a victory in this contest.

Matchups to Avoid

Dallas Cowboys @ Kansas City Chiefs

Matchup is going to be a coin toss depending on which Kansas City team decides to show up.

Indianapolis Colts @ Buffalo Bills

Despite the betting line, this is absolutely no sure thing for the Bills. This game will be closer than people think.
