TRAX Best Score Draft Recap: Part 1

It is very easy to discuss what should be done during a draft. It’s often a little more difficult to implement said strategies in real time. The only real way to analyze the drafting process is to participate in it. With that in mind, I am taking part in a TRAX Best Score league to see where my pre-draft ideas of how one should draft a TRAX Best Score team and my actual drafting of such a team come together and where they do not. I will discuss some of the thoughts behind the picks I made and see how much I can stick to my…

Fantrax Staff Debate: Yasmani Grandal vs. Mike Zunino

One of the most enjoyable parts of fantasy sports in debating which players are better than others. We've all done it. You're hanging out with some friends, probably enjoying a beer or two, and you get into a long discussion over which player is better than another one. Sometimes it might get heated, but that's okay. We aren't all going to agree on every single player. That would make fantasy leagues incredibly boring. The same can be said here at Fantrax. We have a great group of writers and podcasters (that might not be…

Dynasty Dugout: Mid-Season Keeper/Dynasty Rankings: Catcher

We've covered every offensive position so far in our midseason dynasty rankings besides catchers. Yay catchers! I know you can’t really tell, but that was said with a lot of sarcasm. Trying to find reliable catchers in fantasy these days is about as much fun as watching the Hallmark channel with my in-laws. Most catchers are only on fantasy rosters because they need to be. If we ignored position and solely looked at stats, how many would still warrant being owned? Maybe five? Regardless if we want them or not, catchers…

ESPN Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups – Week Of June 25, 2017

As I am very well aware, I missed the Jacob Faria waiver wire bandwagon. When I looked at the players that were owned in less than 50% of leagues last week, I did not choose him because I wanted to wait one more week to see if he was for real. While I was waiting, his ownership on ESPN sites shot up to 61% and 85% in cbssports.com leagues. This is our lesson for the week. No matter what any us might say or write, if your gut tells you to pick someone up, do it. Not every pick up will rocket up the wire like Faria, but if you…

Weekly Top-10: Affordable Power Adds

In last week’s top 10, we detailed some struggling players that are showing signs of turning it around in the second half of the season. This week we pinpoint an area that fantasy owners might need a little bit of help in. Ah, power. Everyone loves it and never seem to have enough of it. You know the old saying, “Pitching and defense win championships?” Well, that’s not the case in fantasy baseball. Power is the name of the game. Home runs are up across the league in general, and probably in your fantasy league too.…
