Fantasy Football: Week 16 Running Back Matchup Report

Todd Gurley almost single-handedly won his owners championship berths last week. Gurley totaled 42.00 fantasy points against the Seattle Seahawks, the most any running back has had in any game since Week 14 of 2016. The Rams are one of the best stories of the season, but they are not the only NFC team to make a dramatic turnaround in 2017. The Minnesota Vikings have clinched the NFC North and are poised to earn a first-round bye in the playoffs. Their offense has survived multiple injuries, and players have really stepped…

Fantasy Football: Week 9 Running Back Matchup Report

The two big news stories coming out of Week 8 were the denial of Ezekiel Elliott’s request for an injunction and the trade of Jay Ajayi from the Miami Dolphins to the Philadelphia Eagles. Elliott will likely begin serving his six-game suspension beginning in Week 9, giving fantasy owners some tough decisions to make going forward. As of right now, Elliott is out until Week 15, which is Semifinal week in most fantasy leagues. It’ll be tougher to reach the semifinals without Elliott, who is tied with Todd Gurley for the…

Fantasy Football: Week 7 Running Back Matchup Report

One of the headlines in Week 6 was the fallout resulting from the trade of Adrian Peterson from New Orleans to Arizona. Peterson hadn’t shown anything in his brief stint as a New Orleans Saint other than rust and age, rushing for just 81 yards through four games. Immediately following the trade, I texted my friend who is a die-hard Cardinals fan and congratulated him on Arizona furthering their quest to re-create the 2009 all-Pro team. Peterson proceeded to make me look like an idiot (save the jokes, please) and appeared to…

Fantasy Football: Week 5 Running Back Matchup Report

Week 5 is the first of the NFL season to incorporate scheduled byes, and could not come at a worse time for many fantasy owners who were dealt significant injury blows to their running backs in Week 4. Vikings’ running back Dalvin Cook tore his ACL and is out for the season, ending what started out as a spectacular rookie year. Chris Carson suffered a fractured leg and high ankle sprain and was placed on injured reserve. (True story - I dropped Cam Newton and picked up Carson last week. Sigh.) Ty Montgomery barely played in…

Fantasy Football: Week 4 Running Back Matchup Report

What will happen in Week 4? It was another strong week for the running back position in Week 3. Once again, there were 21 running backs who scored at least 10 fantasy points in standard scoring. Four of the top seven running backs in Week 2 (Todd Gurley, Kareem Hunt, Chris Thompson, and Devonta Freeman) repeated the feat in Week 3. Hunt and Gurley are the only backs to be an RB1 in each of the first three weeks of the 2017 season. Le’Veon Bell, Ezekiel Elliott, and Jordan Howard showed that rumors of their demises have been…
